    • PURPOSE:To enable heat generated in a resistor unit and semiconductor elements to be fully radiated, by projecting a resistor unit containing snubbers for a main thyristor and a condenser for radiating the heat generated in the semiconductor elements so that they have a step difference on a vehicle side and besides installing a cover equipped with ventilating holes in conformity with the projecting part. CONSTITUTION:Each phase in this device is equipped with a cooling unit, in which an enclosed container 2 having semiconductor elements such as GTO thyristors, diodes and having coolents is connected with a condenser 3 installed in a ventilating chamber to radiate the heat generated in the said semiconductor elements in cycles of vaporization and condensation, filter capacitors 5 in a power source of the device, and a resistor unit 4 installed in the ventilating chamber and mainly equipped with snubber resistors for the said semiconductor elements. In such an inverter controlling device, disposal of equipment on a vehicle 18 side is formed in each phase of the following three separated blocks; the resistor unit, the cooling unit, and the filter capacitors 5. While the resistor unit 4 and the condenser 3 in the cooling unit are projected with a step difference on the vehicle 18 side, a cover 8 having the ventilating holes in conformity with the projecting part is installed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter capable of suppressing the wiring length of a main circuit and that of a snubber circuit to the minimum, and capable of having small-sized simple mounting structure. SOLUTION: A module type power semiconductor devices 1A, 1B incorporating self-arc-extinguishing semiconductor devices and snubber capacitors have the collector terminals C and the emitter terminals E1 of the self-arc- extinguishing semiconductor devices, and the anode terminals A and the cathode terminals K of the snubber diodes provided independently respectively, and they are arranged in such a way that the collector terminals C and the emitter terminals E1 may be on both sides of the anode terminals A and the cathode terminals K of the snubber diodes. As the result of this, it becomes possible to cause the module type power semiconductor devices 1A, 1B to have the same terminal arrangement, and besides to linearize and simplify wiring by a positive electrode P side wiring member 4, a negative electrode N side wiring member 5, and a wiring member 6 for AC output, and to simplify the connection with a snubber capacitor module 2 also.
