    • PURPOSE:To increase the throughput of Laser beam processing and to decrease the number of positioning times of a mask as well as to enhance processing accuracy by setting the beam size of a laser beam at a proper size to increase an energy density and projecting this laser beam to the mask. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam 11 is collimated into collimated beams of light of the cross-sectional area having the area smaller than the vertical and horizontal lengths of the processing pattern range of the mask. The collimated beams of light are projected and scanned perpendicularly to the processing pattern surface. The collimated beams of light are formed to the sectional shape smaller than the aperture diameter of a projecting optical system 29 for projecting these beams to a sample 15. Further, when the collimated beams of light are made incident in parallel with the optical axis of the projecting optical system 29, the exit light thereof is made to emerge in parallel with the optical axis of the projecting optical system 29. In addition, the collimated beams of light are scanned by an operating mirror 26 which is provided at the focal position of the incident optical system 29 of the mask 12 and chanegs its angle around twin axes.

    • PURPOSE:To decrease the friction force and attraction force of the magnetic disk with and to a magnetic head and to maintain the floating stability of the magnetic head over a long period of time by forming the patterns to decrease the contact area with the slider surface of the magnetic head on the surface of a protective layer via a mask. CONSTITUTION:Oxygen ion beams 7 are cast via the mask 6 having the patterns controlled in the disposition of apertures and non-apertures on the surface of the surface protective layer 5 of the magnetic disk 8 to form surface rugged shapes along the patterns on the mask 6 on the surface of the protective layer 5. Only the hilly parts, therefore, directly face the head and the area ratio at which the magnetic head 8 comes into contact with the head can be decreased. The friction force and attraction force with and to the head are consequently lowered. Further, the fluctuation in the floating quantity of the head is lessened and the floating stability of the head over the entire surface of the magnetic disk 8 is assured by nearly uniformly disposing the formed hills. The fluctuation in the output by the fluctuation in the floating quan tity is thus prevented. The friction force and attraction force with and to the head are lowered in this way and the floating stability of the head is assured. The deteriora tion in the characteristics is lessened over a long period of time.

    • PURPOSE:To efficiently process holes in a large area and high density circuit board by irradiating a defective part of an electrically conductive layer or an insulating layer of a multilayer circuit substrate with laser light after hole processing to carry out modifying processing of the defective part. CONSTITUTION:When there is a defective part 5 in a transferring pattern 12, the board surface is illuminated by light and the reflected light 6 thereof is received by a light receiving element array 7, etc., to obtain a hole pattern, and said hole pattern is compared with a hole pattern of a nondefective to determine the position of the defective part 5. Then, the light from a laser generator 8 is converged by a reflecting mirror 10 and a condenser lens 11 to irradiate each defective part 5 and when the light passes through the hole a nondefective can be obtained. Thus, only the defective parts among collectively processed many holes can be selectively processed so that the irradiation time of the laser can be reduced and the overheating of the board can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform highly accurate detection regardless of burning conditions, by making exhaust gas reaching a diffused resistor flow through a reformed catalyst layer. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 3 are deposited and formed on the front and rear surfaces of a solid state electrolyte 4. One electrode 3 is in contact with exhaust gas through a diffused resistor 2. A reformed catalyst layer 1 is arranged on the side of the resistor 2. The exhaust gas 7 is flowed to the side of the resistor 2 through the catalyst layer 1. In the catalyst layer 1, an aluminum honeycomb is used as a support, and Ni and Fe2O3-CrO3 are supported as the catalyst components. The catalyst layer 1 is provided in the vicinity of the exhaust gas port of an engine and heated to about 500 deg.C from the outside. The compositions of the exhaust gas 8 through the catalyst layer 1 are measured under the following three kinds of burning conditions: in the idling state after warming-up; in the idling state immediately after starting; at the number of rotations three times the idling after warming-up. As a result, the compositions of the exhaust gas 8 at a certain fuel-air ratio agree in any burning conditions of three kinds along the entire region from a lean to rich state. HC is not detected in any case.
