    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability in a severe environment at high temp. and humidity by laminating a magnetic film and a protective film on a substrate having a prescribed surface roughness and forming a lubricative film whose thickness is less than half the surface roughness of the protective film. SOLUTION: An underlying film 2 of Ni-P plating, an underlying film 3, a magnetic film 4, a protective film 5 and a lubricative film 6 are laminated on an Al substrate 1 supporting a magnetic medium to obtain a magnetic disk. In a magnetic disk device, the magnetic disk is fixed in a rotatable state and combined with a magnetic head slider 7 and a signal is recorded, read and written. Glass 8 or ceramic may be used as the material of the substrate 1. In order to attain high density and high capacity, the spacing between the magnetic disk and a magnetic head in the magnetic disk device is reduced, that is, the height of levitation of the head is reduced. It is therefore necessary to adopt a magnetic disk having such high flatness that the head is not crashed by contact with the disk and the average surface roughness Ra of the disk is regulated to

    • PURPOSE:To provide the magnetic recorder having excellent writing characteristic and reproducing characteristic. CONSTITUTION:A first magnetic layer 11 is formed by sputtering at 1.5mum thickness on a sapphire single crystal substrate 10 having extremely high wear resistance and is patterned to a prescribed shape. Further, an alumina film 12 constituting a magnetic gap length is formed at 0.5mum and a conductor coil 13 of a plane spiral type is deposited by evaporation and is patterned. A suitable insulator 14 is formed on the conductor coil 13 so as to cover the ruggedness of the conductor coil and a second magnetic layer 15 is formed by sputtering at 2mum thickness to cover the conductor coil and the insulator and is patterned to a prescribed shape. The thin-film magnetic head obtd. in such a manner and the magnetic recording medium are combined, thereby, the magnetic recorder is constituted. As a result, the magnetic recorder having the excellent writing characteristics and reproducing characteristics is obtd.
