    • PURPOSE:To enable to start a water turbine safely, by minimizing the time required for oscillation frequency to pass through a critical resonance zone, and thereby eliminating possiblity of causing resonance of the water turbine. CONSTITUTION:When starting instruction is given, a by-pass valve 8, a down stream seal ring 9 and a main valve 7 of the inlet valve are opened in this order, and guide vanes 4 are kept once at the no-load opening. With opening of the guide vanes 4, the speed of rotation of the runner 1 is increased gradually. Here, since the opening angle of the guide vanes 4 is fixed, runner accelerating torque is reduced gradually as the speed of rotation of the runner 1 is raised, so that the rate of speed change with time is lowered with time. In this connection, a tolerable minimum rate of speed change with time is predetermined in consideration of the time required to pass through a critical resonance zone, and the guide vanes 4 are opened to a great angle when it is detected that the rate of speed change with time has becomes lower than said predetermined minimum value. By employing such an arrangement, it is enabled to make the oscillation frequency pass through the critical resonance zone promptly.

    • PURPOSE:To improve reliability with a small displacement pump, in an exhaust controller of reversible pump turbines for pumped storage power plants, by such constitution that an abnormally high water level in a drain water pit is detected and an exhaust device is closed at the time of abnormally high water level independently of the controller. CONSTITUTION:When a pump is started, a level of water in a runner chamber 1 is depressed by compressed air from a feed air valve 9, if rotation of a dynamotor, not shown, connected to a main shaft 3 reaches a rated speed, an exhaust command is output to open an exhaust valve 10. Then if priming water pressure in the runner chamber 1 reaches a prescribed value, a pressure relay 16 is operated to close the exhaust valve 10. In this case, if an abnormally high water level of a water drain pit 12 is detected by a water level detector 14A, an electromagnet of the exhaust valve 10 is urged by a circuit, independent of a control circuit of the controller, and the valve is closed. Accordingly, discharge of the drain pit 12 at an abnormally high water level can be prevented to both form a drain pump 15 to small displacement and improve reliability.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the water pressure rise in the water channel on the upstream and water pressure fall and rise in the downstream at the breaking the load, control method of guide vane at the breaking the load of the pump water turbine which S-curve characteristics in the range of water turbine is necessary. CONSTITUTION:This guide vane control method is operated to prevent abnormal water pressure variation in the S-curve characteristics and around it, in the pump water turbine having characteristcs which water turbine flow Q and produced torque T lowers as shown in the graph with lowering S-curve characteristics, that is, NI=N/H (where; N shows rotating speed, H shows effecitve head), when dQ dN (but Q1=Q/H ) is smaller than certain negatibe valve at the breaking the load, the guide vane is shut loosely after that, above shutting loosely is continued during chasing S-curve characteristics, afer the S-curve characteristics has been chased, that is, when the valur dQ1/dN1 is shiftted from positive value to the negative value, the guide vane is suddenly shut.
