    • PURPOSE:To increase the accuracy of a recording means relative to a recording performance recovery means and enhance the recording performance to make it possible to maintain an image quality at high level constantly by making the recording means and its recording performance recovery means one integrated body and further, making this integrated body detachable from the main device system. CONSTITUTION:A recovery unit 9 for normalizing the discharge abnormality of ink due to bubbles or impurities which generate in the discharge orifice 42 of a recording head 8, is arranged at a position behind each suction orifice 10. In addition, a suction pump connected to each suction orifice is arranged in the unit 9, and decreases the inner pressure of each suction orifice 10 in a capped state. Further, the suction pump sucks bubbles and impurities from the inner part of the discharge orifice 42 of each recording means together with ink and expells them to an outside area. The suction pump is so designed as to convert a rotating drive force to a load. It is possible to replace or maintain/inspect a main scan recording mechanism and recovery means 9, 10 by detaching part with the whole main scan base 26 in the arrow direction when a serviceman or a user replaces parts or checks them for periodic maintenance service.

The positioning plates 36, 37 are fixed to a side plate to which is mounted a main scan rail 7 for guiding a carriage 5. On the other hand, the positioning plates 38, 39 are mounted integrally to a restoration unit 10. By this, the relative positional precision between the positioning plates 36, 37 and the main scan rail 9 is ensured while the positional precision between the carriage 5 and a platen 9 and the conveyance means mounted to the chassis 16 is increased. Resultantly, it is possible to facilitate the jam processing of the recording medium and ensure the positioning precision between the conveyance means and the recording means after execution of the jam processing.

    • PURPOSE:To attain accurate alignment by feeding a transducer with less number of steps till a reference position with respect to a track is detected in a feeder feeding the transducer in plural steps in the normal operation mode. CONSTITUTION:The feeding of a magnetic head 3 per one track pitch of a sheet 1 is implemented by 4 steps by a step motor 6 in the normal operation mode in a recording and reproducing device for a magnetic sheet, and a head 3 is fed to an outer or inner circumference with a feed mechanism comprising the motor 6, a rotary shaft 7, a feed screw 8, a head base 4 and a guide 9 prior to the operation mode to ensure the absolute reference position with high accuracy. That is, the reference position is detected by a reference position detector comprising a shield plate 11 and a photocoupler 12 while feeding the head 3 with the feed mechanism one by one step. Thus, the alignment accuracy at the reference position is improved.
