CONSTITUTION:When a car speed is a preset value or more by turning on a brake switch 18 to apply a main brake, a coefficient of road surface friction is compared with the first preset value, and an auxiliary brake is not applied, when smaller than the preset value, and suspended when already during the auxiliary brake. On the other hand, in the case that the coefficient is the preset value or more, a retarder 34 and an engine brake are actuated as an auxiliary brake device 28 by a command from an auxiliary brake control unit 46, and the coefficient of road surface friction is compared with the second preset value during operating the engine brake. Next in the case that this coefficient of road surface friction is the second preset value or more, a shift down is performed, and a condition, left as it is, is maintained when the coefficient is small.

SOLUTION: When emergency brake operation is detected, BA control supplying a brake fluid from a front/rear pump 170, 172 to a wheel cylinder 142, 144, 146, 148 is started. When the BA control is started, as compared with an outflow amount QM/C from a master cylinder 18, a fluid amount QW/C in the wheel cylinder 142, 144, 146, 148 is increased to a large amount. As compared with the master outflow amount QW/C, in order to prevent returning to the master cylinder 18 of a large amount of brake fluid, in the case that a fluid amount QIN supplied from the pump exceeds a prescribed value, further increasing of the fluid amount QIN is inhibited.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the consumption of a large amount of the braking liquid stored in a reserver tank, by comprising an abnormality detecting means for detecting the abnormality of a liquid-operated circuit for guiding the braking liquid pressure generated by an assist pressure generating means, to a wheel cylinder, and forbidding the execution of the brake assist control when the abnormality is detected. SOLUTION: The existence of the requirement of the start of the BA(brake assist) control is judged in an ECU 10 during the operation, and whether the abnormality of a liquid-operated circuit is detected or not, is judged, when the requirement exists. When the abnormality is not detected, the processing for increasing, decreasing or holding the assist pressure is executed corresponding to a condition of the braking operation. Further whether the finish condition of the BA control is fulfilled or not, is judged, and it is judged that the finish condition of the BA control is fulfilled, in a case when the stepping of a brake pedal 12 is released, or the like. When it is judged that the abnormality of the liquid-operated circuit is detected, the processing for finishing the BA control is executed. Whereby the consumption of the braking liquid can be inhibited.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a braking force controller in which braking force according to the deflection condition of each tire at the time of braking can be distributed to each wheel. CONSTITUTION: When a brake switch 67 is turned on, acceleration detected by an acceleration sensor 62, a rotational speed of each wheel detected by a wheel rotation sensors 63 to 66 and a vehicle body speed detected by a speed sensor 61 are read in an anti-lock braking force controller 60. When the slip ratio of a rear wheel is smaller than the threshold value of an anti-lock braking force control region, the correction value of the actual outer diameter of a tire with the movement of a load is computed. After that, the target wheel speed of a rear wheel on the basis of the actual outer diameter of a tire with the deflection condition of the tire with the movement of a load being taken into consideration is computed, and pressure-increase hydraulic switching valves 13, 14 or pressure-reduction hydraulic switching valves 17, 18 on the rear wheel side are opened and closed by comparing the target wheel speed of the rear wheel with the wheel speed of the rear wheel which is detected by the wheel rotational speed sensors 64, 65.
