      SOLUTION: A metallic gasket has combustion chamber bores 2, etc. opened on a base plate 1, and has beads formed along seal lines. At least a part of the beads is composed of composite beads composed of metal beads 14 formed by folding the base plate 1 and rubber beads composed of elastic seal materials 24a, 24b which are stuck on the projected surfaces of the metal beads 14, and are filled in the recesses arranged on the opposite side of the projected surfaces, and can generate elastic forces together with the metal beads 14. The surfaces of the elastic seal materials 24a, 24b are coated with coating films 26a, 26b having resistance to cooling water and oil.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gasket capable of more positively uniforming a surface pressure on a thickened part.
      SOLUTION: A gasket 10 comprises a pair of base plates 10' and 10' stacked up and down, in which combustion chamber holes 1 and bolt holes 2 are bored, a sub plate 10" and a shim plate 11 intervene between these base plates 10' and 10'. On this sub plate 10", a second bead BD2, which permits plastic deformation, extends in the circumferential direction of each combustion chamber hole 1. As the second bead BD2 is deformed according to the magnitude of the fastening load, the gasket height lowers where the fastening load is heavy and the surface pressure on the peripheries of combustion chamber holes 1 is uniformed after fastening.

When the liquid hole arranged close to between adjacent combustion chamber holes 3 among the liquid holes 4 is called as the close liquid hole 4A, a part of the seal line SL1 is set as a liquid hole seal line SL1a by surrounding the whole periphery of a peripheral fringe of the close liquid hole 4A.
