A coalescing element for coalescing a first liquid from a second liquid, in which the first liquid is a corrosive aqueous liquid that is wholly or partly immiscible in and forms a discontinuous phase with the second, continuous phase-forming organic liquid is also provided which includes a halocarbon polymer packing material having at least one porous, fibrous, non-woven web. The web having a solid capture efficiency of as high as about 20 mu m, and is adapted to separate liquids differing in interfacial tension of as low as 0.6 dynes/cm.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject method which is capable of decreasing the quantity of wasted cooling water both by prolonging an interval between cleanings of a cooler and thus improving a work efficiency, resulting from reducing the quantity of a vagetable oil, which causes the breeding of algae, by means of the removal of a lubricant such as castor oil, mineral oil coming mingled into the cooling water and from inhibiting the breeding of algae using only a mineral oil or a mineral oil-added castor oil with a small portion of a castor oil, and by reusing the cooling water. SOLUTION: The controlling method for the cooling water used in metal extrusion molding is characterized by inhibiting the breeding of algae in the cooling water in such a way that firstly the cooling water used in an extrusion molding of such a metal as aluminum and mixed with a lubricant such as castor oil, mineral oil is subjected to water-oil separation to remove the oil component mixed, then subjected to electrolytic treatment to enable the reuse of the cooling water, and secondly the separated lubricant such as castor oil, mineral oil is subjected to purification from impurities and made to reuse as the lubricant for the extrusion molding.

SOLUTION: When stainless steel is cold-rolled by using an emulsion oil containing ionic emulsifier(s) as a rolling oil, the pH of the emulsion oil is made weakly acidic, 4.0-6.5 pH in the case that a cationic emulsifier is used, while the pH is adjusted to 7.5-9.5, weakly alkaline, in the case that an anionic emulsifier is employed. Further, in the emulsion tank, the emulsion is separated into high-concentration and large particle size emulsion and low-concentration fine particle size emulsion to collect individual emulsions. These fractions are properly selected, mixed and used as a rolling oil.
