      SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control system of the internal combustion engine is furnished with a supercharger to vary supercharging pressure, a reducing agent supplying means to supply a reducing agent to the exhaust emission control device to recover performance of the exhaust emission control device provided in an exhaust air passage and an exhaust air throttle valve provided in the exhaust air passage and to control a flow rate of exhaust air and controls the exhaust air throttle valve in the valve closing direction (S110) when the flow rate of the exhaust air flowing in the exhaust air passage is more than a specified flow rate in supplying the reducing agent to the exhaust emission control device by the reducing agent supplying means (S102). Additionally, it lowers the supercharging pressure by the supercharger (S108) when back pressure in controlling the exhaust air throttle valve in the valve closing direction becomes higher than the specified pressure (S104).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device capable of efficiently eliminating blocking-up of a catalyst front end part by PM, regardless of an operation state of an internal combustion engine. As a result of it, boosted intake air is supplied to the upstream side of the NSR catalyst 23 from an intake passage 5 via an EGR passage 27, and since an exhaust gas flow rate flowing in the NSR catalyst 23 is increased, the PM sticking to the catalyst can be easily blown off.
