    • PURPOSE: To provide a manual transmission which has the so-called hill hold function, and besides is small and light, by applying to a sleeve for selectively setting a number of speeds a function by which rotation in a specific direction is prevented. CONSTITUTION: A first speed gear 4 for achieving a first forward speed is rotatively attached to a part which is located adjacently to a bearing 3 in an output shaft 2 in the inside of a transmission housing 1. A clutch hub 6 is spline-fitted to a part located adjacently to a part on which the first speed gear 4 is supported. A ring clutch hub sleeve 9 is spline-fitted to the outer circumferential part of the clutch hub 6 so as to be moved forward and backward in the direction of an axial line. A lock pin 22 composing a rotation regulating mechanism is arranged together with a projection 14 provided adjacently to the rotational direction of the output shaft 2, on the outer circumferential side of one wall part 13 under such a condition that the clutch hub sleeve 9 is moved to a position where it is engaged with a spline piece 17.

    • PURPOSE:To ensure high dielectric strength of an insulating film at an end part of a gate of an insulated gate type semiconductor device. CONSTITUTION:A gate oxide film 12a and a phosphorus-doped conductive polycrystalline silicon film are provided in an element forming region of a silicon substrate 10. The polycrystalline silicon film is selectively removed by the dry etching method to provide a gate electrode 13a. The silicon substrate is thermally oxidized to provide oxide films 13a1, 15b, 16b on a source region forming portion 15 and a drain region forming portion 16 adjacent to the gate electrode and gate oxide film. The oxide film 13a1 is thicker than the oxide films 15b, 16b by about 10nm. Therefore, when each oxide film is removed by the wet etching method, the gate oxide film under the gate electrode is no longer over-etched. Accordingly, when the source region and drain region are provided by diffusion of impurity, distances between the gate electrode and source region and end part of the drain region can be reserved, improving the dielectric strength of the device.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal element where all of the surface of a substrate is subjected to uniform rubbing treatment, by subjecting a film, on which a transparent electrode is formed, to the rubbing treatment and sticking this film to the inside end face of a transparent substrate. CONSTITUTION:A film 1 whose side of an arrow A the transparent electrode is formed in a prescribed pattern on and an oriented layer is formed on is set tensely to a film take-up roll 4, and a rubbing roll 5 is pressed against the upper face (the side of the arrow A) of the film 1, and the rubbing roll 5 is rotated in the direction of an arrow C while advancing the film 1 right in the figure by the film take-up roll 4, thus subjecting the upper face of the film 1 to the rubbing treatment. The side (of an arrow B) of the film 1 which is not subjected to the rubbing treatment is stuck to the inside end face of a transparent substrate 3 by an acrylic adhesive 2. A seal member (an epoxy resin) is screen-printed on all of outside peripheral parts of inside end faces of a pair of transparent substrates except parts which should be charging holes, and the pair of substrates are put one over the other so that respective inside end faces face each other, and they are stuck by baking. The space surrounded with the pair of transparent substrates and the seal member is kept in the vacuum state to charge a liquid crystal there.

    • PURPOSE: To distribute uniformly an additive to a liquid crystal over the entire part of a liquid crystal operating part and to prevent the generation of a partial operation defect by incorporating the additive into a material for forming oriented films to be provided on substrates.
      CONSTITUTION: The oriented films to be provided to the surfaces of a pair of substrates are formed by using the material added with at least part of the additive to the liquid crystal, in the method for forming a liquid crystal element by forming electrodes on the respective surfaces f said substrates, disposing the oriented films thereon, positioning the surfaces of a pair of the substrates to face each other and sealing the liquid crystal between the substrates. By using of the oriented films contg. such additive to the liquid crystal, the additives are uniformly distributed into the liquid crystal when the liquid crystal is injected into the spacing between the substrates in the stage of assembling the liquid crystal. The problem such as partial operation defect is thus eliminated and the liquid crystal element having a large area is obtd. with good accuracy.

      2 , etc. In concrete, the oriented film is formed by offset-printing a polyimide solution on an internal end surface, dipping the internal end surface in the polyimide solution, or dripping the polyimide solution on the internal end surface and rotating the substrate around the center part in the internal end surface.
