    • PURPOSE: To provide the titled jig having long life, at a low cost, by covering the surface of a molybdenum substrate closely with a tungsten film.
CONSTITUTION: A tungsten film having a thickness of about 0.005W0.5mm is formed closely to the surface of a jig for the pulling of molten quartz and consisting of sintered molybdenum prepared by powder metallurgy, etc. The application of the film is carried out by vacuum evaporation, sputtering, CVD process, flame coating, etc. When the above tungsten-coated jig is heat-treated before use in an inert atmosphere at about 1,600W2,200°C for a definite time interval, the molybdenum and the tungsten are mutually diffused at the junction interface between the substrate and the film, and the bond strength of the substrate and the film can be improved.

    • PURPOSE: To provide the alloy for the die of an extrusion molding machine with long use life reduced in abrasion and deformation, obtained by specifying a composition consisting of Ti, C and Mo while forming a solid solution structure wherein Ti and C are dispersed in a Mo-matrix.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy for a die has a composition consisting of 0.5W2.0wt% Ti, 0.001W0.1wt% C and the remainder Mo and, when used as the die of an extrusion molding machine, can enhance working efficiency because anti-wear property is excellent, life is long and the number of times in die exchange are extremely reduced. The above mentioned alloy is obtained by a method wherein powders of Mo, Ti, or TiH
2 and C are mixed in a predetermined compounding ratio and further sufficiently mixed by a ball mill to be press-molded into a green compact. Subsequently, the obtained molded green compact is sintered by heating the same to about 1,800°C or more, pref., about 2,000W2,300°C in vacuum or a hydrogen stream. The sintered body is further densified by forging or rolling processing and, thereafter, processed into a predetermined die shape.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain an Mo electrode for glass smelter, having excellent connectability, by making a composite structure composed of an Mo block having a protrusion and an iron or steel block having the connecting face of the same size as the Mo block and a cavity to fit with said protrusion.
CONSTITUTION: A rectangular parallelopiped Mo electrode 1 is furnished at its lower face with a protruded block 3 putting a space between the side edge. Separately, an iron or steel material is formed to a rectangular parallelopiped block having the same form as above, and a cavity 4 to fit with the protrusion 3 is formed to the face to be connected with the Mo electrode. The face has the same size as the face of the electrode having the protrusion 3. The protrusion 3 is inserted into the cavity 4 to connect the Mo electrode 1 with the iron block 2. A stationary electrode for glass smelter can be obtained by this process.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance the anti-wear property of a printing wire, by forming a thin layer comprising one kind or more SiC, TiC or the like on the surface of a W or a W-alloy wire through an intermediate layer comprising one kind or more BN, AlN, Si3N4 or the like. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer 4 with a thickness of 0.5-5mum comprising one kind or more nitride selected from BN, AlN, Si3N4, TiN and VN is formed on the surface of a wire 1 comprising W or a w-alloy. Subsequently, a thin layer 2 with a thickness of 5-50mum comprising one kind or more carbide selected from SiC, TiC, B4C and WC is formed on the intermediate layer 2 to obtain the printing wire of a dot printer. The intermediate layer 4 and the thin layer 2 can be formed by a plasma spray method, an electroplating method or a gas phase plating method. Because the obtained printing wire has the thin layer formed through the intermediate layer, close adhesiveness and anti-wear property are enhanced.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent carbon from dispensing towards a target plate, by setting a rhenium layer interposed between a graphite substrate and the target plate to be for instance a rhenium foil having a specific processing rate, for which sintered powder is processed. CONSTITUTION:A target plate and a rhenium foil with a processing rate of more than 85% are piled on each other and a pressure is applied to them in a hydrogen environment or the like. Next, above composite is piled on a graphite substrate and e.g. about 200kg/cm pressure is applied to the whole body in an inert gas, e.g., argon environment from the upper and lower sides, using boron nitride powder as a compressive medium, so as to unite the whole in one body. Thereby a dispersion of carbon towards the target plate may be prevented sufficiently.
