SOLUTION: The title data processing unit is provided with a window 403 that is used to extract data of each pixel within a prescribed area around a target pixel, a pattern recognition section 404 that recognizes a linear shape of a border of a white pixel area from a black pixel area on the basis of the extracted image data so as to generate code information in a plurality of bits denoting a characteristic of the shape, a memory block 405 that outputs stored correction data by using the code information for the address from a pixel to be corrected on the basis of the code information, and a tilt bit changeover section 403 that validates bits denoting whether the line segment is upward slant to the right or downward giant to the right among a plurality of the bits of each pixel in the case that the image data are a facsimile reception image.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease a time required to generate correction data used for correcting jaggy of an outline of bit map data and a time required to set data when actually in use. SOLUTION: The picture data processing unit is provided with a window 73 that extracts data of each dot in a prescribed area around an object dot of bit map data and with a pattern recognition section 74 that recognizes a shape of line segments at a border of a black dot area and a white dot area in the extracted image data and generates code information in pluralities of bits denoting characteristics of the shape of line segments. A slope bit limiting means 78 provides an output of a SLOP signal (a bit denoting whether a line segment is upward or downward slant to the right) received from the pattern recognition section 74 to a memory block 75 without any modification when a NO-MATCH signal is at a low level (in the case that a target pixel requires correction of picture), but provides an output of the SLOP signal received from the pattern recognition section 74 to the memory block 75 after fixing the SLOP signal to a low level output when the NO-MATCH signal is at a high level (in the case that a target pixel requires no correction of picture). The memory block 75 provides an output of prescribed correction data when the SLOP signal is valid.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data processing unit that reduces time for generating correction data used for jaggy correction and minimizes a data setting time in actual use of the processing unit. SOLUTION: An image data processor is provided with a pattern recognition means 74 that recognizes a linear shape of a border part between a black dot area and a white dot area of image data and generates code information in a plurality of bits representing a characteristic of the recognized linear shape of object dots, a discrimination means that discriminates whether or not the dots require correction, and a memory block 75 that reads and outputs correction data stored in advance by using the code information for the address of the dots discriminated to require correction. Furthermore, the image data processing unit is provided also with an inclination bit changeover means that sets a bit denoting the inclination of a line segment to be valid or invalid as to whether the inclination rises upward to the right or decreases downward to the right among a plurality of bits representing a characteristic of the shape of the line segment recognized by each dot.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve picture quality by performing the interpolation of image data for respective required dots in spite of the presence/absence of jaggy contour line around them. SOLUTION: Concerning an image data processor 7, the form of line segment at the section of boundary between the black dot area and white dot area of image data extended into the form of bit map is recognized, the feature of the line segment form recognized for the respective required dots is replaced with the code information of plural bits and while utilizing one part of that code information at least, the dot discriminated to be corrected is corrected corresponding to this code information. In such a case, this processor is provided with a 1st correcting means 11 for performing the correction corresponding to the replaced code information of plural bits to the bit discriminated to be corrected and a 2nd correcting means 10 for recognizing the feature of image data extended into the arbitrary form of bit map and similarly performing the correction to the other bits corresponding to the other code information of combination excepting for the code information of the 1st correcting means.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce tonner consuming quantity without losing the shape of a image in image data which is extended in a bit map state as much as possible and also to attain efficiency in generating picture correcting data. SOLUTION: A main-scanning counting means 78 counting the number of dots in the main scanning direction of picture data which is extended in the bit map state and a sub-scanning counting means 79 counting the number of lines in the sub-scanning direction of image data are provided. When the dot is discriminated not to require correction and also to be the black dot which is surrounded by the black dots, a part of code information is replaced to the count value of plural bits which are outputted from the main-scanning counting means 78 and the sub-scanning counting means 79 and correction data is read from a memory block 75 as an addree concerning the code information.
