    • PURPOSE:To always obtain a good transfer image quality, and to easily execute a separation of a transfer material by using an AC corona discharge which has been brought to DC bias to the same polarity as an electrification polarity of a non-image part of a photosensitive body, as a separating corona charge for peeling off the transfer material from the surface of the photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:An image part 4 formed on a surface layer part 5 of a photosensitive layer 1a which has been electrified positive is an area where no charge exists, because it has been formed by radiating directly a light beam, and its potential level becomes a bright potential VL. On the other hand, a non-image part 5a except the image part 4 becomes a dark potential VD of almost the same potential as the potential at the time of electrification. By using a developing electrode 2 to which a DC bias VB has been applied to the same polarity as the charge of the surface of the photosensitive body, a toner is electrified positive, the toner is attracted electrostatically to the image part 4, and a toner image 4a is formed. The potential of the image part in this case becomes VB-VL. In this regard, the developing bias VB is lower than the potential VD of the non-image part of a photosensitive body 1, but a peripheral edge part of a no-charge area of the image part 4 is induced to the negative polarity by a peripheral electric field effect by the positive charge of the non-image part, therefore, the toner is attracted satisfactorily even by the developing bias potential VB being lower than the non-image part potential VD.

    • PURPOSE:To destaticize a photosensitive body with an easy method by continuing to charge and destaticize a transfer charged part of a photosensitive body until the last charged part reaches an exposure position when image formation on the layer-built photosensitive body is terminated. CONSTITUTION:A layer-built photosensitive body 1 is charged negatively and is exposed to a laser in an exposure position 3 to form a latent image. Since a toner due to the reversal development has the negative polarity in a developing device 4, a transfer charger 5 performs transfer by positive discharge, and the photosensitive body 1 is charged positively. After transfer, positive charge remains though negative charge is removed by a quenching device 7. This positive charge is removed by a primary charger 2 and in the exposure position 3 while image formation is continued. Consequently, the electric charge of the photosensitive body 1 is removed if this operation is continued until the last transfer-charged part reaches the exposure position 3. Thus, the operation stop timing is delayed to destaticize the photosensitive body without a special destaticizing device.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of a horizontal streaky abnormal image by providing a control means for rotationally dividing a photoreceptor, at the time of warming up a fixing means. SOLUTION: A recording paper after receiving the transfer of a toner image is separated from the surface of a photoreceptor 1 and carried to a fixing unit 8 by a carrying belt 7, to fix an image on the recording paper. The surface of the photoreceptor 1 after the image is transferred is cleaned in such a manner that stuck soil such as toner remaining after the transfer is removed by cleaning blades in two stages 9a and 9b and then, charged by an electrifying roller 2 again. At the time of warming up the fixing means, the photoreceptor 1 is driven to rotate until the contact part of the surface of the photoreceptor 1 with the electrifying roller 2 is rubbed by the blades 9a and 9b on the surface of the photoreceptor 1 at least several times or more by the control means. Thus, foreign matter after being transferred to the surface of the photoreceptor 1 from the electrifying roller 2 is wiped by the blades 9a and 9b and the surface of the photoreceptor is leveled, so that the horizontal streaky abnormal image can not appear.

SOLUTION: The constituting material of the elastic layer 102 is incorporated into the surface layer 103 of the electrostatic charging roller 100 having the elastic layer 102 and the surface layer 103 covering the surface of the elastic layer 102. The content of the constituting material of the elastic layer 102 incorporated into the surface layer 103 is 5 to 60wt.% and the difference in the electric resistance values between the elastic layer 102 and the surface layer 103 is about Ω.cm. The surface layer 103 is formed of a high-polymer compd. consisting of at least polar synthetic resin and a nonadhesive resin. The high-polymer compd. is so formed on the elastic layer 102 that its film thickness attains about 10 to 100μm. As a result, the good electrostatic charge efficiency is obtd. and the uniform electrostatic charge is obtd. only by the impression of the DC voltage. The constitution is simplified when a thermistor detecting the temp. on the peripheral of the electrostatic charging roller 100 is built into a developing bias power source circuit.
