    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for measuring a component ratio of sludge, specifically, volumetric contents of an organic substance, an inorganic substance, moisture, air bubbles in the sludge. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a pressure-proof container, a means for impressing an external pressure to a sludge 1 stored in the container, a means for measuring an internal pressure of the container, a neutron ray source 10 for projecting neutrons to the sludge 1 stored in the container, a neutron detector 11 for detecting neutrons scattered by the sludge 1, a neutron- counting means for counting a counting rate of the detected scattering neutrons, a γ ray source 12 for projecting γ rays from outside to the sludge in the container, a γ ray detector 13 for detecting γ rays penetrating the sludge 1, and a γ ray-counting means for counting a counting rate of the detected penetrating γrays. Moreover, the apparatus has an operation means for obtaining volumetric contents of an organic substance, an inorganic substance, moisture and air bubbles included in the sludge on the basis of a plurality of counting rates of neutrons counted under at least two different pressures and counting rates of γ rays counted under either one of the pressures.

    • PURPOSE:To raise the temperature of the tap hole rapidly when it drops temporarily by installing a sludge burner and an auxiliary burner at positions that are lower than the center of the height of the furnace and at the same time mounting one or two of those two burners on a rotating body which rotates round a shaft which penetrates the furnace. CONSTITUTION:A sludge burner 4 and an auxiliary burner 5 are both provided lower than the center of the height of the main body 1, and object to be burned which are led to the sludge burner 4 are jetted out towardS the circumferential wall of the inside of the main body 1 with the fuel from the auxiliary burner 5 and they burn in rotation. Here, if there is a variation in the quantity of supply or ingredients of the objects to be burned, the temperature of a tap hole 3 falls temporarily. When this temperature fall is detected by a thermocouple or a radiation pyrometer, an electric motor 54 is driven and a rotating body 52 rotates round a penetrating shaft of the furnace wall anticlockwise in the angular range theta, and the position of the burner 50 of the auxiliary burner 5 moves. On the extension of the line through the burner 50 a tap hole 3 sits, so that the fuel is jetted out from the auxiliary burner 5 towards the area near the tap hole 3. Then the tap hole 3 is heated by the combustion of the fuel from the burner 50 and the tap hole temperature rapidly returns to its initial temperature. When the temperature of the tap hole 3 is recovered, the auxiliary burner 5 returns to its normal position.
