    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline manganese battery substantially improving the high rate property and corrosion resistance.
      SOLUTION: The alkaline manganese battery uses a negative electrode comprising: a zinc alloy powder selected from following (1) to (3) and a gel electrolyte containing 0.01 to 10 wt.% of oil of liquid saturated hydrocarbon in the zinc alloy powder, the zinc alloy powder being a zinc alloy powder (1) in which Ge, Sb, As and Fe contents contained as impurities are reduced such that Ge is less than 20 ppb; Sb is less than 50 ppb, As is less than 5 ppb; and Fe is less than 5 ppb; (2) containing 0.001 to 0.1 wt.% of Bi; 0.001 to 0.1 wt.% of In; and 0.001 to 0.1 wt.% of at least one of Al, Ca, Mg, Pb and Sn, wherein zinc alloy powder having a particle size distribution of 48 to 200 mesh is 70 wt.% or more and that of minute particle powder having a particle size distribution of -200 mesh is 10 wt.% or less; or (3) in which contents of impurities is as set forth in (1) and alloy composition thereof is as set forth in (2).
