    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery having excellent liquid leakage resistance.SOLUTION: The alkaline battery is of a cylindrical shape configured by housing a cathode, a gel-like anode containing zinc alloy powder, a separator and an electrolyte consisting of an alkaline aqueous solution in a battery container consisting of an outer can, an anode terminal plate and a mouth sealing body, said alkaline battery being characterized in that the mouth sealing body is made of nylon and contains water by 1.5 mass% or less, that the anode terminal plate has one end of a metallic anode collector rod electrically connected thereto, the anode collector rod having the other end inserted into the gel-like anode through an open hole formed in the mouth sealing body, and that the surface of a portion of the anode collector rod in contact with the inner face of the mouth sealing body and a portion protruding from the mouth sealing body toward the gel-like anode side is covered with a rubber sealing agent for at least up to 1 mm from the edge of that portion in contact with the open hole of the mouth sealing body.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery.SOLUTION: In a battery (1) comprising a can (11), a lid (12), and a seal (13), the lid (12) is adapted to the can (11) to assemble a housing in a closed inner capacity, and the seal (13) seals the lid (12) and the can (11) associated with each other. A porous film (14) is parallely arranged on principal faces of the can (11) and the lid (12), and splits the inner capacity into two sub-cells (15, 16). Each of the sub-cells (15, 16) includes one or more electrolyte layers, and one or more layer structures. The layer structure is provided with a conductive film at least partially covered with an active material, and including one or more through holes. Furthermore, the layer structure is arranged in parallel to the porous film (14), and the conductive film is connected to any of the can (11) and the lid (12). The structure allows a large contact area between the active material and the electrolyte, and between the electrolyte and the porous film.
