SOLUTION: An adapting operation control part 90 composites a pseudo-echo signal rz(i) by performing convolutional operation between a stored filter coefficient, updated by an FIR filter part 5z with an update signal from a filter coefficient update circuit 7z performing control so that ez(i) approximates 0 and yz(i) according to a select signal generated by limiting channels to be put in adapting operation at the same time among all the channels by samples according to a count value from a counter 160 increasing in count value in every cycle and a control signal from an AND circuit 15z which is generated by performing AND operation between transmit/receive signals xz(i)/yz(i) from transmit/receive signal input terminals 3z/1z and a detection signal generated by deciding whether or not there is a double-talk/soundless state from electric power of a residue signal ez(i) from a subtracter 6z. A subtracter 6z performs subtraction between xz(i) and rz(i) to generate e(z)i.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent an echo path estimating error from being increased due to a delay in the detection of 2-way simultaneous talking state by correcting a register storing an impulse response estimate value of an echo path through the use of a preceding signal by (M-1)-sample. CONSTITUTION:Impulse response estimate values ho(j), h1(j),...,-hN-1(j)stored in a 2nd register are corrected by using a signal e(j-M-1) of the oldest sample among signals stored in a 3rd register and reception signals X(j-M+1), X(j-M),..., X(j-N-M+2) among those stored in the 1st register. When the correction is implemented by using the signal older by (M-1) sample and the value M is set properly, after the 2-way simultaneous talking state is started, the 2nd register correction till the state is detected uses the signal before the 2-way simultaneous talking state is started. Thus, the increase in the echo path estimating error is prevented.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the rapid increase of processing load on an entire echo canceler when the transfer instruction of an adaptive filter coefficient is generated by inhibiting update processing of the adaptive filter coefficient in an adaptive filter in response to the coefficient transfer instruction. SOLUTION: A series of echo canceling operations are repeated for every cycle when a received code is received, and when an echo cancel characteristic of a semi-fixed filter 5 and an echo cancel characteristic of an adaptive filter 7 have a difference, a coefficient transfer is processed while stopping coefficient update processing of he adaptive filter 7 according to a coefficient transfer instruction. When the echo cancel characteristic of the semi-fixed filter 5 and the echo cancel characteristic of the adaptive filter 7 have no difference, coefficient update processing of the adaptive filter 7 is executed and an optimum filter coefficient at that point of time is calculated. The load increment by the transfer processing can be canceled by the reduction in the update processing of the adaptive filter coefficient.
