    • PURPOSE:To secure a high mooring stability through a simple structure by connecting an intermediate sinker, by means of a first chain, to a buoy with which a hull to be moored is to be connected through a york and locking a plurality of second chains devided in radial direction with one end thereof, which is connected with an intermediate sinker, to the sea-bed at the other end of each second chain. CONSTITUTION:A first chain 16 has its upper end connected with a buoy 8 connected to a hull 2 to be moored through a york 4, and has the lower end connected with an intermediate sinker 22. Each end of a plurality of second chains 24 is connected in the radial direction with the intermediate sinker 22 and secured to the sea-bed through an anchor 26 or an anchor pile at the other end of the second chain 24. This enables the overall structure to be simplified, the mooring chains with small strength to be used, and a high mooring stability to be secured by an apparatus with a small scale and light weight.

    • PURPOSE:To aim at effectively utilizing the space of a coal burning ship and as well to miniaturize the hull thereof by dividing a coal burning area in the ship into three sections of large, middle and small sizes which are alloted to a coal store, an exclusive ash tank and a combination ash tank, respectively. CONSTITUTION:An area which is conventionally used for storing coal alone in a coal burning ship, is divided into three sections of a coal store 5, a combination ash tank 6 and an exclusive ash tank, which are separated from each other by partition walls 8. Coal stored in the coal store 5 is transferred from the outlets 10 of hoppers 9 to a coal feed tank 14 through a pipe 13, by a pneumatic carrier 12, and is then burnt in a boiler 3. Ash obtained after combustion, is pulverized by a crusher 18 and is transferred to the combination ash tank 6 or the exclusive ash tank 7 for storing the ash through a pipe 20 by a preumatic carrier 19. Further, a pipe 21 is adapted to be used for discharging the ash to the shore or the like.

    • PURPOSE:To minimize soil improving work for soft sea-bottom ground by a method wherein the part of soft sea-bottom ground on which a semi-submarine type marine structure is to be installed is improved and hardened and then the marine structure, being controlled by means of ballast, is set on or slightly afloat from the bottom, etc. CONSTITUTION:The surface 3 of soft sea-bottom ground 2 whereon a semisubmarine type marine structure 1 is to be installed is amended in soil and hardened as shown in the figure by slant lines. On the other hand, the structure 1 equipped with ballast tanks and the like omitted from the figure is set slightly afloat from the hardened surface 3 of the sea bottom or installed on the bottom, being controlled by means of ballast so as for its weight not to be loaded on the bottom, thus the draft of the structure 1 being maintained at a fixed level. Moreover, the structure 1 is fitted with the plural number of mooring chains 4 to the ends of which are further fitted sinkers 5 respectively. These sinkers 5 keep the chains 4 in the state of tension within the ground 2 and any external force applied to the structure 1 in the horizontal direction is held by both of them.
