    • PURPOSE:To accomplish continuous growth of single crystal with stabilized quality, by continuously feeding the raw granules, while melting, to the bottom of a crucible without causing thermal convection and continuously pulling while keeping the level of the melt in the crucible constant. CONSTITUTION:A crucible 2 held in a susceptor 3 is revolved by a drive 4, and a melt put in the crucible 2 is heated by a heater 5 to pull an ingot 7 for the single crystal, a porous sleeve 11 consisting of porous matter is inserted into the inner sidewall of the crucible 2, and above it, the discharge pipe of a quantitative feeder 14 for raw granules is opened. In order to detect the level of the hot melt 6 in the crucible, gamma-rays are emitted 21 so as to cross diagonally through the melt surface, being detected by a detector 22 located at the counter position. And, the values thus detected enter the controller 23, which controls the quantitative feed drive 15 so as to keep the melt level constant. Thus, the objective single crystal with its length equivalent to that for the conventional two or more-batch operation can be obtained in one operation.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate smelting of ore in raceway in front of tuyere, by charging a part of flux as lump state together with carbonic material from top of furnace at the time of producing molten iron by blowing the powdery iron ore and the flux together with the hot blast from tuyere of carbonic material packing layer type vertical furnace. CONSTITUTION:The carbonic material for solid reducing material is charged in the furnace from a top charging device 6 in a carbonic material packing layer type vertical smelting reduction furnace 1, to form reducing material packing layer in the furnace. The flux 9, such as powdery iron ore 8 and lime, etc., is blown from the upper step tuyere 4 of furnace and at the same time, hot blast from a blasting device 2 is blown to the upper step tuyere 4 and the lower step tuyere 5 through a distributor 3. The iron ore is smelted together with the flux at the raceway space in front of the upper tuyere 4 and reduced into pig iron by carbonic material in front of the lower step tuyere 5. In this case, by charging a part of flux as lump state from the furnace top, the raceway space in front of the upper step tuyere is become to large and smelting quantity of iron ore is increased, to increase the production of molten iron and also SiO2 in ash in the carbonic material is stabilized by the lime, to restrain the increase of SiO2 content in the molten iron.
