    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect an end part of an object even if a length of a heterogeneous material changes by projecting plural light emitting wave lengths in order on the object, and measuring a length of the heterogeneous material according to a difference in transmissivity between the heterogeneous material and the object in the respective light emitting wave lengths. SOLUTION: An fluff part (a heterogeneous material) of sample cloth or cloth to be sewn (an object) is set in a transmissivity measuring solar cell 4a, and transistors Q1 to Q4 are driven in order by a light emitting wave length selecting command of a microcomputer 17, and when respective diodes R, G, B and IR of a surface emmisive LED panel 3 are made to emit the light in order, the light passing through the fluff part or the cloth irradiates the cell 4a, and voltage according to a quantity of light is outputted from a light detecting circuit 12a. Next, voltage corresponding to the disturbance light is removed (13a) from this voltage, and is inputted to the microcomputer 17 through an A/D converter 16 after it is held (14a), and is compared with a quantity of received light of the cell 4a at fully opened time, and transmissivity of fluff or the cloth in respective light emitting wave lengths is found, and a length of the cloth and the fluff is calculated by these transmissivity and received light voltage of the cloth end position measuring solar cell 4a.
