    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for more easily and effectively manufacturing dimethylglycine.SOLUTION: Dimethylglycine is manufactured by introducing exogenous genes related to a metabolic pathway for dimethylglycine synthesis by two-staged methylation reaction from glycine to sarcosine and from sarcosine to dimethylglycine into microorganisms. Further, by strenghthening a synthetic system of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) to be used as a methyl group donor in the dimethylglycine synthesis at the same time, a larger amount of dimethylglycine can be biosynthesized. According to the method of manufacture, dimethylglycine can be highly densely accumulated inside the microorganism from a simple carbon source derived from plant biomass, and further, dimethylglycine can be easily separated and collected by discharging dimethylglycine under a low osmotic pressure condition such as fresh water. Further, by repeatedly utilizing the used microorganism, a large amount of dimethylglycine can be continuously produced.
