    • PURPOSE:To obtain a small, inexpensive, and anticorrosive snowfall strength gauge for a small scale load heating by arranging snow melting heaters and pair electrodes on the inside of a polygon composed of a dielectric film or the like thereby detecting variation of impedance between the pair electrodes. CONSTITUTION:When an AC voltage is applied on an electrode 2, impedance can be represented basically by a formula Z=1/omegac so long as nothing is present on the surface of the dielectric film 1. Adhesion of snow on the surface of the dielectric film 1 has effect on the line of electric force to vary the value of (c) thus varying the impedance. Since the effect of snow is insignificant, snow is melted through a snow melting heater 3 in order to enhance the effect of snow on the line of electric force. When a very thin film 1 is employed and the electrodes are arranged finely, snowfall strength can be determined based on the variation of impedance or the amount of the variation due to adhesion of snow onto the surface of the film 1.

    • PURPOSE:To easily detect the snowfall state by applying an AC voltage between a first and a second electrodes placed relatively in the atmosphere, and detecting a voltage between a first and a third electrodes of a structure covered with a housing of a nonmetal. CONSTITUTION:A first and a second electrodes 2, 4 are connected to an AC power source 1. Also, between the electrodes 2, 4, third electrodes 3a, 3b are provided in the vicinity of the electrode 2, and the electrode 2 and the electrodes 3a, 3b are covered with a housing of a nonmetal. In this state, when a snowfall, etc., are generated between the electrodes 3a, 3b and the electrode 4, an hourly shift exists when a snow flake passes through the front of the electrode 3a, and when it passes through the front of the electrode 3b, therefore, a voltage between the electrodes 3a, 3b and the electrode 2 is varied irregularly, a minute variation is detected with high sensitivity by a differential amplifier 8, and an output voltage is obtained in a terminal 10.
