    • PURPOSE:To improve the warm-up performance, fuel consumption and heater efficiency, by providing a heat exchanger for heating a cooling water by heat of exhaust gas, adjusting a temperature of mixture of a hot water from the heat exchanger and a cold water from a radiator to a predetermined temperature by a mixing means, and returning the mixture to an engine. CONSTITUTION:In a cooling system wherein a cooling water is returned through a radiator 7 and a water pump 8 to an engine 1, there is provided a heat exchanger 2 for carrying out heat exchange between exhaust gas from the engine 1 and water flowing in a bypass circuit 3 and a heater circuit 4 each bypassing the radiator 7. The exhaust gas is induced into the heat exchanger 2 by a selector valve 5 when the cooling water is low, and the heater capacity lacks. A mixing valve 6 is provided in a cooling water circuit downstream of the radiator 7 to control a mixing ratio of a hot water from the bypass circuit 3 and a cold water from the radiator 7 so that a temperature of the mixture of the hot water and the cold water approaches a set temperature. The water pump 8 and a cooling fan 9 are of a hydraulic driven type, and are controlled by a control unit 11 according to a water temperature.

    • PURPOSE:To make a space for a component layout compact by directly connecting the housing of a thermo-valve to the bottom of an air intake manifold in the case of an engine provided with the thermo-valve which is to switch over a bypass passage to a main passage or vice verse, the former passage being through a hot water chamber for warming intake air installed on the bottom surface of an air intake manifold while the latter passage being through a radiator. CONSTITUTION:A hot water chamber 3 for warming intake which air is installed on the bottom of an air intake passage 2 in on air intake manifold 1 via a partition wall, is provided with a cooling water inlet 7 which opens at a flange 5, a cooling water outlet 8 which opens at the bottom of the hot water chamber 3, and a partition wall 9 which extends inside the chamber 3 nearly to its end opposite to the inlet 7. A connection port 22 like a short tubular piece is fitted in the cooling water outlet 8, with the housing 16 of a thermo-valve 15 being fixed thereto. The thermo-valve 15 is provided with a bypass valve 35 and other components, that are to be opened by a thermo-stat 18 to open a bypass chamber 20 when the engine is cold. The above constitution is to lead the cooling water to a bypass passage 45 so that the cooling water temperature can be raised rapidly and the intake air can be heated to accelerate fuel evaporation.

    • PURPOSE:To contrive to miniaturize a radiator and improve its cooling performance by controlling a motor for a cooling fan on the basis of the detected signal on the inlet cooling water temperature of a cylinder head so as to avoid overshoot of a cooling water inlet temperature at the time of transient operation. CONSTITUTION:An engine main body 1 has a cylinder head 1a and a cylinder liner 1b and each water jacket 2, 3 respectively provided in these both 1a, 1b is respectively cooled by separate cooling systems A, B. Then the cooling system A has a radiator 4 for cooling the cylinder head 1a, a fan for the radiator 4 and a pump 6 for circulating cooling water and these are connected through cooling pipe lines 7-9. In this case, a temperature sensor 10 is provided, at the inlet side of the radiator 4, on the pipe line 7. And a motor 6a for the fan 5 is controlled, on the basis of a signal from a water temperature sensor 10, through an electronic control circuit 11 to keep cooling water temperature proper.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a combustion chamber wall from an abnormal rise in temperature due to bubbles produced in a refrigerant, by driving at least either a condenser cooling fan or a refrigerant feed pump by compulsion when temperature in the combustion chamber wall goes up beyond the specified value, in case of an ebullition cooling type engine. CONSTITUTION:The refrigerant vaporized at a water jacket 22 is led into a condenser 23 via a vapor phase chamber wall 22a and a steam passage 27, cooled by a cooling fan 26 and condensed. Then, the condensed refrigerant is put back to the water jacket 22 via a lower tank 24 and a feed pump 25. Each of detection values of liquid level sensors 31 and 39, a liquid temperature sensor 32 and combustin chamber wall temperature 51 are all inputted into a control circuit 50, and when the detection value of the combustion chamber wall temperature 51 exceeds the specified value (for example, 140 deg.C) as well as the temperature rise ratio obtained in differentiating the detection temperature exceeds the setting value (for example, 80 deg.C/sec), the cooling fan 26 and the feed pump 25 are compulsorily driven for the prescribed time long.

    • PURPOSE:To minimize the load for the cooling fan driving and contrive the improving of the fuel-air ratio of the titled engine by a method wherein the operation of a clutch for cooling fan driving is controlled according to a temperature sensor which directly detects the wall part temperature of a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 27a of a cooling water pump 27 is detachably attached with a cooling fan 26, a fan pulley 28 and a pump pulley 29 via each ball bearing 26a, 28a, 29a. Each pulley 28, 29 are connected to pulley 30, 31 which are provided on a crank shaft 14 by belt 32, 33, and intermittently controlled with said cooling fan 26, said cooling water pump shaft 27a via each electromagnetic clutch. A coil 37 of said fan electromagnetic clutch is controlled its electrifying in accordance with a temperature sensor 35 which detects the wall part temperature of a combustion chamber.
