    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating pump which downsizes a manifold and supplies liquid with a simple configuration to a high pressure seal and a low pressure seal. SOLUTION: A cylinder protruding part 4a is formed by providing a suction port 55 and a discharge port 56 in a manifold 5 and causing at least part of a cylinder part 4 to protrude from the manifold 5. By a cylindrical communication pipe 6 arranged on the outside of the cylinder protruding part 4a protruding from the manifold 5, a communication flow passage 61 is formed between the cylinder protruding part 4a and the communication pipe 6. Between a high pressure seal 45 and a low pressure seal 46, a penetrating flow passage 43 penetrating through the inside of the cylinder part 4 and the communication flow passage 61 is provided. Thereby, flow passages 53, 61, 43 connected from a manifold flow passage 53 to the penetrating flow passage 43 via the communication flow passage 61 are formed. Through the flow passages 53, 61, 43, a liquid is supplied from the manifold flow passage 53 side to between the high pressure seal 45 and the low pressure seal 46 on the inside of the cylinder part 4.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut cost down, improve maintainability, lower the environmental load, reduce management cost, and fully cool a high-pressure seal with a liquid in use even in a structure without a low-pressure seal and oil seal.SOLUTION: A liquid in use is employed for a pumping action in a pump chamber 3 and also flows through the flow path R formed within the drive unit case 4, so as to bathe the drive unit M therewith, thereby lubricating and cooling the drive unit M without using oils. This can overcome the problem of high temperature generated in the drive unit by use of the oil. This can eliminate the low-pressure seal and oil seal for preventing the liquid in use and oil from mixing with each other. This makes it unnecessary to exchange oils. No oil mist occurs. It is only necessary to manage the liquid in use. In addition, the liquid in use flowing through the drive unit case 4 comes into contact with the rear side of the high-pressure seal 8.
