    • PURPOSE: To prevent a needle from rocking to disturb an embroidering pattern or to damage cloth while suppressing wasteful power consumption by keeping a feed dog or rocking of the needle to be at a prescribed position in the middle of embroidering operation. CONSTITUTION: In order to embroider, an embroidering pattern is sewed by moving of an embroidery frame 40, rocking of the needle 1b and cloth feeding is unnecessitated, and a Z-pulse motor 10 and an F-pulse motor 11 is set and held at a prescribed stopping position. Even when external force is applied, irreducibly minimum power, which never rotates the motors 10 and 11, is supplied. When the stopping position of the rocking direction of the needle 1b or the stopping position of the feed dog are away from its original position in the case of holding the motors 10 and 11 to be stopped, loads to be applied to the motors 10 and 11 are increased by the inertia of a link constituting a needle rocking mechanism and a feed dog driving mechanism and a dead weight based on gravity. Thus, the stopping position of the rocking direction of the needle 1b or the stopping position of the feed dog are set to its original position, where the loads applied to the motors are minimized, to minimize the power required for keeping the stopping state.

    • PURPOSE: To make a producing cost correspond to the number of patterns by providing a rocking quantity changing mechanism, a feeding mechanism, etc., so as to add a needle position changing mechanism for sewing a button hole and so as to add feeding switching mechanism for over lock sewing or triple sewing. CONSTITUTION: A needlebar vertically moving mechanism, a needlebar rocking mechanism, a needlebar rocking quantity changing mechanism and rotary cam mechanism are respectively flatly arranged and a rocking width cam 65 and a feeding cam 68 are rotated by the rotating operation of a pattern selecting dial 63 to select a pattern, thereby a mechanism for generating a plurality of patterns is simplified. Consequently, button hole sewing becomes possible by a middle class zigzag sewing machine obtained by additionaly mounting a needle position changing mechanism to a low class zigzag sewing machine capable of straight sewing and zigzag sewing. In addition, a high class zigzag sewing machine obtained by adding a feeding switching mechanism to this middle class zigzag sewing machine is enabled to execute over lock stitch and triple sewing to set the producing cost of many machine kinds according to the number of patterns to prevent the low class zigzag sewing machine of small number of patterns from increasing a cost.
