    • PURPOSE: To make it possible to carry out the complete gasification only by passing coal through a gasifying furnace once, by distributing and feeding the coal to the upper and lower stages of a jetted stream bed type gasifying furnace according to the particle size, gasifying the coal respectively under specific conditions, and leading the gas formed in the lower stage directly to the upper stage.
      CONSTITUTION: Coal is distributed into coarse and fine particles by selecting the flow velocity of a fluidizing gas 4 in the a fluidized bed type distributor 8, and the coal having ≤100μm, preferably ≤50μm, particle size is fed to the upper stage 10 of a jetted stream bed type gasifying furnace 9 and then gasified at ≥900°C in the absence of oxygen. On the other hand, the remaining coarse coal is fed to the lower stage 11, and oxygen in an amount necessary to carry out the complete combustion of the coalW half thereof is fed to gasify the coal at the melting temperature of the coal ash or above. The resultant gas is then led directly to the upper stage 10.

    • PURPOSE: To enhance coal gasification rate and improve coal treatability per unit volume in a simple way and apparatus, by feeding, for fluidization, to the gasification furnace the gas produced by burning part of the gas generated in the combustion chamber attendant on the furnce.
      CONSTITUTION: A gasification furnace 19 is charged with a feedstock such as a pulverized coal from a hopper 18. The gas thus produced is freed from pulverized materials such as char, residual feedstock, etc. during being fed from the top of the furnace through the cyclone 24 to the gas-refining tower 25 where impurities such as dust, NO
      x , SO
      x , etc. are removed, thus being stored in a gas holder 27. The combustion chamber 21 attendant on the furnace 19 is then charged with part of the gas produced above followed by burning it together with oxygen or a gas containing oxygen to generate a fluidizing gas which is then fed to the gasification furnace 19.
