    • PURPOSE: To obtain a high-purity polyglycidyl derivative in high yield, by reacting a hydroxycarboxylic acid with an epihalohydrin in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst, reacting the reaction mixture with an aqueous solution of a caustic alkali so that it is subjected to dehydrohalogenation.
      CONSTITUTION: A hydrocarboxylic acid compound (e.g., o, m, or p-hydroxybenzoic acid, etc.) containing an aromatic carboxyl group and a phenolic hydroxyl group in the molecule is reacted with an epihalohydrin in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst such as a quaternary ammonium salt, quaternary phosphonium salt, quaternary arsonium salt, etc., the prepared reaction mixture or the reaction mixture from which an unreacted epihalohydrin is distilled away is treated with an aqueous solution of a caustic alkali, so that a halohydrin ether or a halohydrin ester is dehydrohalogenated, to give a polyglycidyl derivative.
