    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selectively detecting so-called Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillusdelbrueckii subsp.bulgaricus, existing in feces.
      SOLUTION: The method comprises following steps. A step producing an agar plate culture medium by dissolving 70 g of skimmilk powder, 15 g of sodium acetate trihydrate, 2 g of ammonium citrate tribasic and 15 g of agar in 1,000 ml of water, heating at 100°C for 10 min and then adding 1.32 ml of acetic acid. A step anaerobically culturing the samples by coating an appropriate amount of the samples such as a diluted liquid of feces containing the Lactobacillusdelbrueckii subsp.bulgaricus, at a constant temperature of 48±2°C for 24-48 hrs. A step measuring the number of bacilli by counting white large convex circular colonies formed on the medium.
