    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasion tester capable of performing abrasion tests under various different atmospheres by one abrasion tester and capable of setting an atmosphere and a temperature to a predetermined state in a case using a certain fuel.
      SOLUTION: The abrasion tester is constituted so as to test the abrasion of first and second parts coming into contact with each other under a high temperature gas atmosphere, and is composed of an atmosphere chamber 25 wherein first and second parts 51 and 55 are set, a gas supply passage 13 for selectively supplying one of a plurality of combusion gases to the atmosphere chamber, an atmosphere control part 10 including a gas discharge passage 18 for discharging the combusion gas from the atmosphere chamber and a heating part 30 independent of the atmosphere control part and including an optical type overheating means 37 for heating the first and second parts in the atmosphere chamber.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camshaft having no abnormal wear generation on cam surface and its manufacturing method in the camshaft in which the cam surface is treated by re-melting surface hardening process.
      SOLUTION: The cam surface of the camshaft except both sides end portions is treated by re-melting surface hardening process by using high energy beam. After that, the surface is polished along the shape of this hardening spot, and a level difference between the hardening spot of the cam surface and non-hardening spots of the both sides end portions is provided in such a manner that the levels of the non-hardening spots are lower than that of the hardening spot. At this point, a polishing manner of forming the level difference is executed by shot blast, and shooting particle sizes used for the shot blast are desired to be from 0.1 to 3 mm in diameter. Further, the level difference formed by the polishing such as the shot blast or the like is suitable to be 20 μm or more. The manufacturing method of the camshaft is constituted of a casting process of forming the camshaft, a surface hardening process of re-melting chilling the cam surface by the high energy beam, and a polishing process of forming the level difference against the hardening spot by polishing the non-hardening surfaces.
