Therefore, without enlarging the movable amounts of the magnetic heads 29 and 30 to members for supporting these magnetic heads, the fitting height positions of the magnetic heads 29 and 30 can be easily controlled. Thus, the so-called thrust force for controlling the gaps of the rotary transformers 24 and 27 and for positioning the rotary head can be easily adjusted even after the assembly.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable restoration processing by detecting defect of operation of an optical block. SOLUTION: A controller 8 controls a DSP 10, and makes an optical block 3 output a slide servo signal moving to a most inner peripheral side of MO media 1 to a slide driver 13. The controller 8 discriminates whether a position of the optical block 3 is moved to the most inner peripheral part of the MO media 1 within 200 ms after this command. When it is discriminated that the position of the optical block 3 is not moved to the position corresponding to the most inner peripheral part of the MO media 1, the controller 8 makes the DSP 10 output the slide servo signal being a sine wave to the slide driver 13. The slide driver 13 applies voltage being the sine wave to a slide motor 3b based on this slide servo signal. Thereby, as the optical block 3 is swung on an axis 3a, restoration processing from impossibility of operation due to hardening of grease and impossibility of operation due to a minute foreign matter can be performed.

Consequently, the tape doesn't come close to the tape lead part 18 more than necessary on the tape entrance side and exit side of the tape lead part 18, and contact is prevented to stably run the tape.
