CONSTITUTION:M pieces of copy are set on a copy feed table and the staple mode is selected. A motor M3 is driven with a signal from a control unit and a stapler S moves form a home position to a stapling spot A. Then if an image is copied, a stapling signal is transmitted from a control unit to activate the stapler S. In addition, the recording sheet is stapled at the specified stapling spot A, then is moved to a spot B corresponding to a stapling spot B, and is stapled there. Thus a bundle of recording sheets is made.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve user's convenience by a method wherein the upper limit value of the number of papers possible to bind of the stapling part of a post- processing apparatus is compared with the number of manuscripts of an automatic manuscript circulating and feeding apparatus and, in the case of coincidence, the copy start time of the next manuscript is delayed. CONSTITUTION:When no recording paper is fed for a predetermined time, the generation of jamming is judged and, when an inlet sensor SN1 is in an ON- state, a copy counter is counted up. When the value of the counter exceeds the upper limit value of the number of papers possible to staple, a sub-routine transmitting a signal delaying a copy interval is executed. A usual copy interval is a t-time and, at the time reaching the upper limit value (n) of the number of papers possible to staple, a delay time T larger than (t) is provided. During this period, a stapled recording paper bundle is discharged to a paper discharge tray 53 by the pawl 46 of a discharge belt 17 and recording paper is again stacked from the (n+1)-th recording paper and the delay time T is taken from the 2n-th recording paper and the recording paper is again discharged to the paper discharge tray 53.

At this time, the apparatus becomes a standby state. When staples are supplied by the hand of an operator, the stapler near-end sensor 211 sends a signal to the effect that the staples are supplied to the CPU 1000 and, when there is the residual job before interruption, a start button, is turned ON to make it possible to treat the residual job. By this constitution, the workability at the time of the replacement or supply of staples can be enhanced.

A setting signal of the switching position may be inputted with an operator also in copying operation. Thereby, bookbinding treatment of recording paper can be effectively performed.

The positioning stopper member 30 can be correctly moved from the home position which is the waiting position to the position compatible with the sheet size, and the rear end of the sheet can be further moved to the biting position of an inverting roller 26.
