    • PURPOSE:To simply and at a low cost execute O press of UO steel pipes of various outside diameters by constraining the side face of an object to be worked by an auxiliary die provided along the die longitudinal direction between the upper and the lower dies, and bringing it to press forming to a cross section longitudinal pipe shape. CONSTITUTION:A U-shaped object to be worked 3 is brought to O press and formed to an O shape by the upper and the lower dies 1a, 1b, and thereafter, by welding its joint and expanding a pipe, a steel pipe of a round shape is obtained. In said UO steel pipe forming use O press, an auxiliary die 4 is provided along the die longitudinal direction between the upper and lower dies 1a, 1b. This auxiliary die 4 is installed in one of the dies 1a, 1b, and also, it is desirable that clearances A, A' at the time when press is completed becomes below 8 folds of plate thickness of the object to be worked 3, and an error B in the horizontal direction against a perpendicular line for linking die circular arc parts becomes within + or -4.5mm. By this auxiliary die 4, the side face of the object to be worked is constrained. In such a way, the work 3 to be worked can be formed to a cross section longitudinal pipe shape without generating buckling.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a die for a press liner excellent in galling resistance and crack resistance by nitriding the surface of a rolled steel sheet and forming a hardened layer having a specified depth. CONSTITUTION:Weldable high tensile steel sheet is used as a die material for the liner and after the steel sheet is formed in the shape of a semi-cylinder, it is subjected to Tuftride treatment which is one of salt bath nitriding methods. When it is dipped in a salt bath at a specified temperature for a specified time, a hardened layer of 0.05-0.15mm thickness is formed by the Tuftride treatment on the surface layer of the die for the liner. Many dies 1 for the liner are generally stacked and used on a base die 2 and the stacking number of these dies is adjusted to obtain the necessary dimensions of the dies. When a material 3 to be worked which has been formed in a U shape is pressed, the plate end of an open part of the material to be worked necessitates wear resistance and anti galling property because it slips as if it bites the die surface. As a result, it is possible to obtain a die excellent in not only galling resistance and crack resistance but wear resistance and anti galling property.
