Through the constitution above, since the polarity of a light emitting element drive signal is opposite to the signal of the display LEDs 23, 24, they are not lighted. When the display driving signal reaches a level, only the LED 23 is lighted and the level of the display drive signal is further increased and exceeds the Zener voltage of the Zener diode 314, then both the LEDs 23, 24 are lighted. Since the signal is separated depending on the polarity and the level, the placing of the operation display light and the stable operation display light to the photoelectric detection section is attained without increasing the signal line number.

Then the circuit 46 compares the signals ai and bj at binary level and outputs a trigger signal (c) to a pulse generator 47 only when they match each other. Thus, an oscillation circuit 11 is constituted and the light projection period of the light projecting element is varied at random to prevent malfunction due to the light projection of other photoelectric switches.

By giving a prescribed temperature characteristic to a frequency shift width of frequency modulation in this way, the temperature characteristic of a propagation speed of an ultrasonic wave can be compensated, and thus a distance to an object, etc. can be measured accurately in a wide temperature range.

    • PURPOSE:To decrease the manufacturing cost of a holder, by constituting a central partitioning wall which separates a transmitting ultrasonic wave vibrator and a receiving ultrasonic wave vibrator with a pair of parallel inner walls. CONSTITUTION:A holder 12 is attached to the opening part in the front surface of a case 10. A central partitioning wall 13 comprising a pair of parallel inner walls 13a and 13a is formed at the central part of the holder 12 so as to separate transmitting and receiving ultrasonic wave vibrators 20 and 20. Outer walls 14 and 14 having specified slant angles are formed so as to face the inner walls 13a and 13a. The outer wall 14 is formed so as to form a pair with the holder 12. Vibrator housing parts 15 and 15 are formed between the inner walls 13a and 13a and the outer walls 14 and 14. The vibrators 20 and 20 are compressed and coupled into bushes 22 and 22. The bushes 22 and 22 are mounted in the housing parts 15 and 15 in the holder 12. Then, the vibrators 20 and 20 are automatically mounted into the holder 12 at a specified angle with projections 27a and 27b of the bushes 22 and 22. Since the holder 12 can be molded by molding means of trimming dies in the two directions, the holder 12 can be manufactured at a low cost.
