      SOLUTION: This lift variable valve gear of the internal combustion engine is constituted so that a rotation regulating mechanism mechanically regulating a rotational range of the control shaft, is arranged between the control shaft and the engine body, and a control unit C controlling operation of the electric motor 62, learns output of the sensor 97 by setting a state of regulating the control shaft 61 to the unidirectional regulating end as an initial position by the rotation regulating means.

Because the axis of the engine E and that of the continuously variable transmission T can be arranged in parallel, dimension in the axial direction of the power device can be miniaturized and in addition, an input shaft of the continuously variable transmission T becomes unnecessary so that dimension in the direction perpendicular to the shaft of the power device can be miniaturized.
