摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the quantity of data to be stored and to reduce the unbalance of load to every data storing area by securing correspondence between a data storing area and a divided key range. SOLUTION: An IOS(input/output server) 70 decides the number of areas to be divided of a disk 80 for management of it according to a load pattern that is designated by a user. The ratio of 1:4:1:8 is decided among the FES(front end server), BES(back end server), IOS and disk respectively. In an initial data loading mode, however, just a single unit of both FES and BES is enough and the said ratio is changed into 1:1:1:8. Then the load is light, only a BES 731 accesses the data bases of disks 811 to 842. Then the load is increased and the unbalance of load is detected, a BES 732 is added to change the said ratio into 1:2:1:8. Thus, the number of BESs is increased or decreased according to the load to attain a scalable system among the FES, BES, IOS and disk set in the ratios of 1:1:1:8 to 1:4:1:8.

Consequently, the classifying process and totalizing process are carried out in parallel to prevent random I/O from being generated.
