    • PURPOSE:To prevent vibration by starting operation after setting the set value of the shut-off pressure of a discharge part which is obtained by the revolution of a runner blow the hydrostatic pressure on the downstream side of a guide vane. CONSTITUTION:A differential pressure gauge 7 detects the pressure difference between the shut-off pressure of a pump water wheel and the pressure on the downstream side of a guide vane and sets the shut-off pressure so as to be below the hydrostatic pressure on the downstream side of the guide vane. Therefore, the self-excited vibration of the guide vane can be prevented by detecting the differential pressure DELTAP between the hydrostatic pressure and the shut-off pressure by the differential pressure gauge 7 and opening the guide vane. The value is approximately shut-off pressure

    • PURPOSE:To prevent anomalous vibration encountered at the time of switching by a switching method in which inlet valve is opened to retrieve a water wheel of its load while keeping a runner chamber under a condition that air is left behind when switching it from synchronous condenser operation to generating operation. CONSTITUTION:When a command for generating operation is sent forth, an exhaust valve is not opened but at a time when air is left behind in a runner chamber and an inlet valve is opened up to an opening degree at which the opening of a guide valve is permitted, the guide valve is opened, during which period the water pressure inside the casing 3 is raised by fully closing the 20DG guide vane-leak water drain valve 6 and also opening the inlet valve and thereby leak water from the guide vane is increased, so that input is directed toward an increase. However, since the runner chamber is filled with a small specific weight of a mixed fluid consisting of the air left in the runner chamber and the leak water from the guide vane and thereby the input becomes smaller, anomalous vibration encountered at the time of switching can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the necessary driving force as well as to prevent the thermal expansion of a runner by opening a guide vane when a racing is given after water is pumped out from a runner chamber and a casing. CONSTITUTION:An inlet valve 18, a leaked water feed valve 21, and a guide vane 2 are fully opened. A leaked water drain valve 10 is opened, and compressed air is sent into a runner chamber by means of a feed valve 8 for pushing down the water surface in the runner chamber as far as an water surface 6 in a draft tube 5 in the lower part of a runner 1. Then, a racing operation is given to the runner 1 by a motor for generator or a motor for starting, and the water surface in a casing 3 is lowered to the lower level A of the guide vane. When the water level is detected by a water level detector 17 to be lowered to the lower end of the guide vane 2, the guide vane 2 is opened and the racing operation is continued. In this method, water walls are not given around the runner 1, and the thermal rising in the runner chamber as well as the driving force necessary for the racing of the runner 1 are reduced for preventing the thermal expansion of the runner 1.
