    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the stable switching of colors by scanning the right and left screens from the right and left sides respectively to detect the index signals which are applied at the over-scan parts. SOLUTION: A left screen 23 and a right screen 24 consist of two electronic guns 21 and 22 respectively. An index fluorescent material 27 which emits the ultraviolet rays is applied at the over-scan parts 25 and 26 of a screen, and the light emitted from the material 27 is received by a photodetector, e.g. a photodiode. Then the screens 23 and 24 are scanned from the right and left sides respectively, and the index signals are detected at the scan starting position. Thus the index signals can be detected before the horizontal scan is started owing to the index areas prepared at both parts 25 and 26. Thereby, the switching of colors can be instructed to every switching circuit with margins.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an electronic beam at other position without changing an index phosphor by applying electronic beam scanning over two adjacent detection elements in the scanning direction of a cathode ray tube so as to detect the scanning position. SOLUTION: A pattern B signal 11 outputted from a pattern B signal generating circuit 106 is projected onto a detection element formed by coating a phosphor onto a cathode ray tube 1 in a chevron shape. The element 3 stimulates a light, the light is converted into an electric signal by a photoelectric conversion circuit 101 and a detection signal is outputted. An output of a vertical position detection pulse interval measurement circuit 103 receiving the detection signal is inverted by an inversion circuit 104 and a changeover circuit 702 receiving the pattern B signal 11 is used to provide the inverted signal to an arithmetic control circuit 200. A geometrical distortion correction circuit 300 takes a difference from an object value to correct geometrical distortion.

    • PURPOSE: To reproduce a good color image by controlling the operation of each electron gun and that of each deflecting device so that scanning of electron beams over a plurality of areas into which one screen part is divided, and switching of colors are performed using time division. CONSTITUTION: An electron beam 18 emitted from each electron gun 15 is deflected by horizontal and vertical magnetic fields produced by each deflecting yoke 16, to scan one screen part 13 while dividing it into a plurality of regions. The electron beams 18 emitted from the twelve electron guns 15 disposed within the necks 14 of twelve funnels 11 are deflected by the magnetic fields produced by the twelve deflecting yokes 16, so that the screen part 13 is scanned while being divided horizontally into four and vertically into three, a total of twelve regions. This division into the regions is controlled based on signals transmitted from a control part controlling the operation of each electron gun 15 and yoke 16. Thus a continuous color image that has no gaps and overlaps is displayed on the screen part 13.

    • PURPOSE: To make the joints between adjacent areas inconspicuous by forming the index phosphor layer of a screen portion from three color phosphor layers and first and second phosphor layers provided parallel and inclined to the color phosphor layers, and selectively detecting two index signals obtained from the layers. CONSTITUTION: This color picture tube device has an envelope comprising one rectangular panel 10 and a funnel portion 12 in which a plurality of funnels 11 are arranged integrally in horizontal lines of four each and in vertical lines of three each, for a total of twelve. An integrated screen portion 13 is provided on the inner surface of the panel 10. An electron gun 16 which emits a single electron beam 15 is placed inside the neck 14 of each funnel 11 in the funnel portion 12. The screen portion 13 has three color phosphor layers B, G, R formed in a plurality of horizontal, parallel lines, and is provided with stripes of light-absorbing layers 23 between the color layers, a metallic phosphor screen 25 located on the backs of the layers 23 and having an evaporated A1 layer 24 formed thereon, horizontally long stripes of index phosphor layers 26 located in positions where they overlap the light absorbing layers 23 via the film 24, and dots of second phosphor layers 27 inclined relative to the layers R to B.
