摘要： PURPOSE: To lessen the number of unreadable postal matter and sort postal matter correctly even if the order of the zip code of the postal matter is not proper or a number of the zip code is missed by installing a sorting means to introduce postal matter into sorting cases based on sorting information consisting of the zip code data of the postal matter and the data of the sequence number of the postal matter with the same zip code. CONSTITUTION: In the sorting process for postal matter, the address information 9 corresponding to the addresses printed on the postal matter is read in a memory means 7 of a control operation station 1. Then, the data of the sequence number which shown how many postal matter with the same zip code exist successively is extracted out of the address information 9 to obtain the sorting information 10 by a routine process 13 to produce the sorting information. Based on the sorting information 10 and the set data of the number of postal mater, sorting process is carried out by a sorting process routine 15. Next, sorting process to produce a new sorted bundle for postal matter with another zip code to be sorted is carried out and thus the sorting process is carried out for all of the postal matter, which are objects to be processed, and at the same time, sorted bundles obtained by the process are introduced into respectively separated sorting cases.

It is possible, as a result, to achieve a good processing efficiency and to improve a read factor.
