摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve thermal resistance and to stabilize quality by surely imparting high thermal resistance. SOLUTION: After supporting a catalytic metal on a porous carrier, the specific surface area of the porous carrier is reduced at a reduction rate of 30 to 70% by subjecting the carrier to heat treatment under a non-oxidizing atmosphere. By the heat treatment providing a reduction ratio of the specific surface area within this range, the degree of shrinkage of the pores in the carrier become the optimum range and the supported catalytic metal is tightly surrounded by the carrier. Accordingly, the movement of the supported catalytic metal is inhibited and sintering of the catalytic metal at a high temperature is suppressed.

By coating the pores 10 with the coating layer 3, movement of noble metals 2 to the outside of the pores 10 is prevented, which suppresses sintering. The carrier 1 consists of ZSM-5 or silicalite, while the coating layer 3 consists of SiO2 .

SOLUTION: A composite oxide-carrying catalyst support to be used for exhaust gas purification is produced by mixing a salt solution containing a plurality of elements at least containing cerium, zirconium, and aluminum with an alkaline solution and hydrogen peroxide solution to form precursors of composite oxides, adding a support powder with high specific surface area to the resultant suspension containing the precursors, and firing the obtained mixture. Though composition rations of the constituents are not specifically limited, the atomic ratio of cerium to the mixed solution (zirconium + cerium) containing core irons of cerium, aluminum, and zirconium is controlled to be in the range of 0.2-0.8. Moreover, the atomic ratio of aluminum to (zirconium + cerium) is preferably to be in the range of 0.2-2.

SOLUTION: An exhaust gas component containing at least one of NOx , SOx and NH3 is occluded in an occluding material. Then, after the exhaust gas component reaches a fixed occlusion amount, the exhaust gas component is extracted from the occluding material and separated. The separated exhaust gas component is converted to a fertilizer component. An exhaust gas utilizing apparatus used has an occluding means, an extracting means and a converting means for the exhaust gas component and is equipped with a regenerating means for generating the occluding material after the extraction of the exhaust gas component. An alkali metal oxide, an alkaline earth metal oxide, activated carbon, zeolite, etc., may be used as the occluding material. The alkali metal oxide, etc., may be supported on a conventional exhaust gas cleaning catalyst and used. The exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is not particularly limited and is obtained by supporting a noble metal such as platinum or palladium on a porous carrier such as alumina or silica.

Since this catalyst contains the heat-treated alumina powder in its catalyst supporting layer, the thermal deterioration of alumina is not almost advanced at the time of cleaning the exhaust gas. Therefore, the sintering of the catalystic noble metal due to the thermal deterioration of alumina is reduced.
