SOLUTION: A flow passage 44 closed so as to make a round of the outside circumference of a housing 21a is formed of the outside wall 37, the bottom wall and the inside wall 38 of the housing 21a, a transmission glass 14 and an upper cover. In order to extend surface area by making the passage 44 longer than the outside circumference, ribs 37a and 38a are respectively formed at one part sides of the walls 37 and 38 so as to form one part 44a of the passage 44 like a crank. Besides, a rotary polygon mirror and the driving part thereof are arranged in the passage 44 and other optical elements are arranged outside the passage 44. Then, an air flow produced by the rotation of the rotary polygon mirror is endlessly circulated along the inside of the passage 44, that means, along the outside circumference of the housing 21a.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image forming device continue image forming operation by a light source performing normal light emitting operation even when an abnormal situation that the normal light emitting operation can not be executed occurs in a part of plural light sources. SOLUTION: In this multibeam scanner, laser beams from 1st and 2nd laser diodes 7 and 8 optically modulated by an original image data are adjacently disposed in a subscanning direction and made incident on a photoreceptor 16. The electrostatic latent image of the original image is formed on the photoreceptor 16 by two scanning lines simultaneously in a main scanning direction. When high speed image-forming is performed and the light emitting level of either diodes 7 or 8 gets low, the moving speed of the photoreceptor 16 in the subscanning direction is decreased to 1/2 of ordinary speed or write-in density on the photoreceptor 16 is decreased to 1/2 of ordinary density. Thus, the image of the original is formed in a state where image forming time is set to twice as long as ordinary time with the ordinary write-in density or in a state where the image write-in density is set to 1/2 in ordinary image forming time until a service engineer arrives to make repairs.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device using a reflection element whose reflectance is high without requiring aluminum vapar deposition or coating and without causing the cost rising of a mirror. SOLUTION: In this image forming device using a laser beam source emitting a laser beam and a write-in optical system 10 forming the laser beam into an image; assuming that the refractive index of a reflection surface 1a with respect to the wavelength of incident light is N1 and the refractive index of substance adjacent to the reflection surface 1a is N2, the reflection element 1 arranged so that the laser beam may be made incident at an incident angle equal to or above a critical angle θ at which incident light is totally reflected on the reflection surface 1a and having reflection surface 1a being a smooth surface where surface processing by vapor deposition is not performed is arranged between the laser light source and a photoreceptor drum 15. The reflection element equipped with the incident surface perpendicular to the incident light and an emitting surface perpendicular to the light reflected on the reflection surface of the reflection element and emitted from the reflection element is arranged between the laser light source and the drum 15. Furthermore, plastic or float glass is used as the material of the reflection element.
