    • PURPOSE:To grind coarse-grained pig which is difficult to be ground at a low cost by crushing and deforming plastically the coarse-grained pig obtd. in the stage of treating a molten iron to a plate shape at an ordinary temp. to generate many cracks then pulverizing said pig. CONSTITUTION:The coarse-grained pig 4 separated from the kish graphite and slag generated in the stage of treating the molten iron or casting the pig is stored into a storage hopper 1. Such coarse-grained pig 4 is fed via a chute 2 and a gate 3 to vertical multi-stage rolls 5 which rotate at a low speed. The upper rolls 6, middle rolls 6 and lower rolls 6 of the rolls 5 are gradually narrowed in the spacings therebetween. The coarse-grained pig 4 is successively crushed and fed downstream via guides 7 and is formed to plate shape of about 1mm. Such pig is changed to the crushed material in which the many cracks are generated. Such crushed material is fed via a conveyor 8 having a magnetic separator to a storage hopper 9 from which the crushed material is supplied to a pulverizer 10 and is thereby pulverized.

    • PURPOSE:To tap a target Si-content pig iron at a good yield of Si in fast response time by blowing Fe-Si for siliconization through a blow hole which is to be exclusively used and is provided in the specific position in the bottom of a blast furnace together with combustible gas, etc. into the molten iron in the bottom of the blast furnace in the stage of producing the high Si pig iron from the blast furnace. CONSTITUTION:The Fe-Si contg. 75% Si in a hopper 5 is blown into the molten iron by the combustible gas such as NPG or inert gas 6 from the tuyere 4 which is to be exclusively used for blowing of the Fe-Si and is provided between the tap hole 1 in the bottom of the blast furnace and an upper limit level 2 of the molten iron bath in the stage of producing the high Si pig iron for a casting in the blast furnace. The plural tuyeres provided behind the the tap hole 1 and at 60 deg. angle therewith are used for the tuyere 4. The Fe-Si enters the inside of the molten metal at a high yield without the oxidation of the Si therein to increase the content of the Si up to the target value. Since the Fe-Si is added to the molten iron, the Si in the molten iron is increased to the target value with the fast responsiveness. The coke ratio of the blast furnace is decreased as the heat is generated by the combustible gas. The productivity is improved as well.

    • PURPOSE:To cast an ingot which is free from flaw, stain, etc. and has a good surface characteristic stably by bubbling an inert gas in the molten metal in a tundish near the inlet of a casting mold thereby forming ascending flow and performing horizontal and continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:A blow nozzle 13 penetrat through the bottom part 12 of a tundish 1 is connected through a regulator 15 and a conduit 14 to a bomb 16 for an inert gas such as Ar and the inert gas is bubbled from the nozzle 13 into the molten steel 4 near the inlet 5 of a horizontal casting mold 2 having a cooling box 3 provided in the lower part of the tundish 1 to form ascending flow in a horizontal and continuous casting installation which solidifies the molten metal 4 in the tundish 1 in the mold 2 and draws the same as an ingot. The temp. difference in the steel 4 is eliminated, the formation of the solidified shell near the inlet 5 of the casting mold is prevented and the ingot having a good surface characteristic is obtained.
