    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing coke by charging raw material coal into the carbonization chamber of the coke oven, capable of maintaining the strength of the coke and simultaneously enlarging the granule diameter of the coke by disposing a non-softening and non-melting substance on the carbonization in a state that the substance is concentratedly disposed on the wall sides of the coke oven in the oven width direction. SOLUTION: In this method for producing coke by charging raw material coal into the carbonization chamber of a coke oven, a substance not softening or not melting on carbonization is concentratedly disposed on the wall sides of the coke oven in the oven width direction.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the strength of coke and simultaneously enlarge the granular diameter of the coke by charging raw material coal into the carbonization chamber of a coke oven so that the bulk densities of the charged raw material coal are low and high on the oven wall sides and on the oven core side, respectively, in the oven width direction. SOLUTION: In this method for producing coke for metallurgy by charging raw material coal into the carbonization chamber of a coke oven, the raw material coal is charged into the carbonization chamber so that the bulk densities of the charged raw material coal are low and high on the oven wall sides and on the oven core side, respectively, in the oven width direction, preferably in an oven wall side bulk density/oven core side bulk density ratio of about 0.70-0.95, especially about 0.80-0.85. The bulk densities are preferably controlled by a method comprising changing the granular diameters and granule size distribution of the raw material coal, although the bulk densities can be controlled, for example, by changing the kind of the coal, the mixing ratio of the coals or a method for charging the coal into the oven or by wetting the coal.
