    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely lock a female screw member fixed to the inside of the output rod of an extensible actuator without requiring a special lock means.
      SOLUTION: Even if a lock nut 97 for fixing the female screw member 96 inside the output rod 33 is loosened, a bolt 103 for fixing the part to be detected 104 of a stroke sensor 102 to the output rod 33 extends through the output rod 33 and is engaged with the locking hole 96a of the female screw member 96. Therefore, the female member 96 is surely prevented from falling off the inside of the output rod 33. Also, since the bolt 103 fixing the part to be detected 104 is utilized for preventing the female screw member from falling off, there is no need of installing a special lock means. As a result, the increase of the number of components can be suppressed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the fall-off of a lock nut which holds a thrust supporting flange of an expansion actuator on a housing without the need for a special locking means. SOLUTION: A ring gear 63 of a planetary gear type reduction gear 37 is screwed to the inner peripheral face of a first housing 31 through its opening, and the thrust supporting flange 74 of a feed screw mechanism 39 is held by the lock nut 78 which is screwed to the inner peripheral face of the second housing 32 through its opening. When the openings of the first and second housings 31, 32 are joined to each other in the axial direction, the lock nut 78 and the ring gear 63 are opposed to each other via a minute clearance α in the axial direction. So, even when one member out of the lock nut 78 and the ring gear 63 being screwed is loosened, the movement of one member is prevented by the other member. This surely prevents the fall-off of the lock nut 78 and the ring gear 63 from the first and the second housings 31, 32 without the need for using a special locking means such as a circlip.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high polymer actuator, generating output and stroke of enough magnitude both in the extending direction and in the contracting direction.
      SOLUTION: An actuator element 14 formed of conductive high polymer material extended and contracted by application of voltage is wound round the outer periphery of two plate springs 26, both end parts of which are pivoted on a first casing 21 and a second casing 22 relatively moved in the direction of an axis L by hinges 27, the middle part thereof being curved in the direction of separating from the axis L. The plate springs 26 are deformed in the direction of approaching the axis L by contraction of the actuator element 14 to separate the first and second casings 21, 22 from each other, and the plate springs 26 are deformed in the direction of separating from the axis L by resilient force of the plate springs 16 due to extension of the actuator element 14 to make the first and second casings 21, 22 approach each other.
