    • PURPOSE:To provide a liquid level meter which directly measures the liquid level in severe circumstances of high-temperature and high-pressure water and steam while a plurality of electrode rods are inserted into a pressure container. CONSTITUTION:As an electrode a fine wire of zirconium alloy is used. The surface of a conductive part thereof is coated with an oxide film for electrically insulation. Platium, gold or silver which is non-oxidizing is pressure-welded to the surface of an end part of an electrode rod where the electricity concentrates. In the liquid level meter thus obtained, a measuring electrode, a reference electrode and a comparison electrode which are formed into one body serving both as an electric conductor and as an electric insulator are arranged in a pressure container. Sine waves of 1kHz or so are applied to the meter in a manner not to influence a product and a test body. The change of the electric resistance when the measuring electrode comes in touch with the liquid is detected as the change of the liquid level.

    • PURPOSE:To easily manufacture a spacer having high corrosion resistance and high strength by subjecting an alloy having a specific composition consisting of Nb, Sn, Mo, and Zr to hot rolling, cold working, annealing, (alpha+beta) hardening, cold working, welding, and final heat treatment in succession. CONSTITUTION:A nuclear reactor fuel assembly is formed by placing plural fuel rods into a cylinder and then welding a spacer dividing the fuel rods in the cylinder to the cylinder. The above spacer is composed of an alloy having a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.5-2.5% Nb, 0.5-2.0% Sn, 0.1-1.0% Mo, and the balance Zr. Further, at the time of manufacturing the above nuclear reactor spacer, the above Zr alloy is subjected to solution heat treatment from beta-temp. and then hot-rolled at a temp. in the range of 600-750 deg.C. The hot-rolled plate is subjected to alternate repetition of cold working and annealing at 550-650 deg.C. Subsequently, the worked material is subjected to (alpha+beta) hardening treatment at 790-870 deg.C. Then, forming is applied to the above treated material by means of final cold rolling. After the welding of the resulting member is carried out, the final heat treatment is applied to the above at 400-650 deg.C, by which the spacer can be formed.
