    • PURPOSE:To obtain an ink jet cartridge capable of controlling an ink pressure in a recording head almost constant by a simple construction, coping with an environmental change, and always stably supplying ink for ensuring a good image quality. CONSTITUTION:An ink chamber 1 is connected to a recording head 3 through a connecting path 2. An ink holding member 6 having a capillary force is connected to the ink chamber 1 through an introducing wick 7. When ink is held in the ink holding member 6, the introducing wick 7 serves as an ink flow path between the ink holding member 6 and the ink chamber 1, and a negative pressure is kept constant by the capillary force of the ink holding member 6. In the absence of ink in the ink holding member 6, an ink meniscus is formed on the introducing wick 7, and the increase of a negative pressure is offset by the production of bubbles for keeping a negative pressure in the ink chamber 1 constant. If air in the ink chamber 1 expands, ink is moved from the ink chamber 1 to the ink holding member 6 through the introducing wick 7, thereby being prevented from leaking.

    • PURPOSE:To stabilize the ink-supply performance, to suppress the influence from the change of an environment and to enhance the ink-containing efficiency. CONSTITUTION:In an ink tank 2, a main ink chamber 4 and a sub ink chamber 6 wherein an absorption member 9 is disposed are adjacent with each other and an air communication hole 8 is provided in an upper section of the sub ink chamber 6. The absorption member 9 keeps the ink pressure at a constant level by its capillary force. First, an ink in the sub ink chamber 6 is used in accordance with the ink consumption. In the case where a prescribed amount of ink has been used, an air passes through the inside of the absorption member 9 and becomes bubbles when passing through a meniscus forming section 10 to move into the main ink chamber 4. An ink pressure is maintained at a constant level by a surface tension in the meniscus forming section 10. Even when an amount of the residual ink is reduced, the meniscus forming section 10 is in a wettable condition because of an ink conduction section 11 so that the ink pressure is constantly maintained.

CONSTITUTION:A stepped part shallower than the diameter of the elastic member 11 provided around a communication hole 7 is provided to the bottom surface of an auxiliary ink chamber 6 and the elastic member 11 is arranged so as to come into line contact with the side wall and bottom surface of the stepped part. An absorbing member 9 is brought into contact with the elastic member 11 under pressure and also brought into close contact with the side wall and bottom surface of the stepped part of the auxiliary ink chamber 6 by the elastic force of the elastic member 11. Therefore, the air penetrating from the gap between the side surface of the auxiliary ink chamber 6 and the absorbing member 9 is blocked by the pressure contact part of the elastic member 11 and the close contact part of the elastic member 11 and the auxiliary ink chamber 6 and the supply defect and the lowering of the volume efficiency of ink caused by the penetration of air into the communication hole 7 can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a high-efficiency ink supply device contriving stabilization of an ink supply performance and also suppression of an effect of a change in ambient environment by a simple construction. CONSTITUTION:An ink tank 3 is composed of an ink chamber 5 and an ink absorber chamber 6 provided with an air connecting hole 9 and loaded with an ink absorber 8. Firstly, ink in the ink absorber 8 is consumed. When the ink in the ink absorber 8 is almost exhaused, air is turned to bubbles when passing through a meniscus forming part 10 and moved to the ink chamber 5. An ink pressure is kept constant by the surface tension of the meniscus forming part 10. The meniscus forming part 10 is provided at a connecting part of the side wall of the ink chamber 5 to the ink absorber chamber 6 in the vicinity of the bottom, thus being disposed substantially vertically. Therefore, produced bubbles immediately move upwards, and there is no possibility that the surface of the meniscus forming part 10 may be covered with bubbles. In addition, the surface is always wet in contact with the ink in the ink chamber 5 for preventing the break of a meniscus.
