    • PURPOSE: To prevent warpage deformation due to temp. change in the environment and to stabilize optical characteristics by controlling the coeffts. of linear thermal expansion of a substrate equal to that of an auxiliary plate and making the film thickness of the substrate equal to that of the auxiliary plate. CONSTITUTION: A polyimide substrate 2 (10μm film thickness) is formed by a spin coating method on a glass substrate. Then a dielectric multilayered film of SiO2 and TiO2 as an optical function film 2 (11μm film thickness) is formed by vapor deposition. Further, an auxiliary plate 5 of the same material having the same thickness as the substrate 2 is formed by a spin coating method. A crosslinking agent (such as an org. titanium resin) is applied as a thin layer between the film 3 and the auxiliary plate 5 to increase the adhesion property between these. Then the substrate 2 is peeled from the glass plate to obtain an optical thin film 1. By this method, warpage deformation due to temp. change in the environment can be prevented, and especially, when the refractive index of the substrate 2 is made equal to that of the auxiliary plate 5, the same optical characteristics can be obtd. for either surface of the optical thin film 1 as the front surface.
