    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitriding method with the use of post plasma, which quickly nitrides a test piece and shows improved nitriding capability, and to provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: The nitriding method of nitriding the test piece by charging the test piece into a furnace to heat it and passing gases through plasma generated outside the test piece comprises: a surface-activating step of generating plasma in a screen net placed outside the test piece, and removing a residual gas and impurities in the surface of the test piece with oxidative and reductive gases; a nitrided-layer-forming step of nitriding the test piece which has passed through the surface-activating step, by charging a nitriding agent that is a mixture of nitrogen, hydrogen and a nitriding accelerator, into the furnace; and a cooling step of cooling the test piece which has passed through the nitrided-layer-forming step, by lowering the temperature of the inner part of the furnace. The nitriding apparatus for nitriding the test piece by charging the test piece into the furnace to heat it and passing gases through the plasma generated outside the test piece has: the screen net generating the plasma arranged outside the test piece; and a gas pipe having a plurality of gas holes arranged outside the screen net.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-current high-density plasma nitriding method capable of depositing a nano-sized nitride on a surface of a product, and capable of increasing the thickness of a layer of a compound on the surface of the product, and to provid the device for the same.
      SOLUTION: Gas for sputtering is introduced into a furnace to remove any residual gas and impurities on a surface of a test piece, nitrogen and hydrogen is introduced into the furnace, the power of the low current is applied to a multiple hollow cathode to generate plasma of high density, and the state of nitrogen plasma in the plasma is changed to form a nitride layer to the nano-size. The momentum and the reaction of ions passing through the multiple hollow cathode are maximized to generate plasma of high density, and a nitride layer of high hardness with less change of roughness can be deposited on the surface of the test piece.
