摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound in high purity and yield by dehydrogenating p-isobutylethylbenzene and then reacting the resultant product with carbon monoxide and water or a lower alcohol. CONSTITUTION:p-Isobutylethylbenzene is dehydrogenated in the vapor phase in the presence of a dehydrogenating metallic catalyst to provide isobutylstyrene and 4-(2'-methyl-1'- or 2'-propenyl)ethylbenzene, 4-(2'-methyl-1'- or 2'-propenyl) vinylbenzene. The resultant p-isobutylstyrene is then reacted with carbon monoxide and water or a lower alcohol in the presence of a carbonylation catalyst of a transition metallic complex to afford the objective compound. The ethylbenzene and vinylbenzene formed in the former step are reacted with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenated catalyst to provide p- isobutyletylbenzene, which is then circulated as a raw material for use.

CONSTITUTION:An olefinic mixture containing two or more unsaturated hydrocarbons selected from compounds expressed by formulas I and II and p-isobutylstyrene is reacted with CO and water or a lower alcohol in the presence of a transition metal complex carbonylation catalyst under conditions of 40-150 deg.C reaction temperature and 10-600kg/cm pressure of CO to selectively hydrocarboxylate or hydroesterify only vinyl group in the above-mentioned mixture and economically and advantageously afford the objective compounds, expressed by formulas III and IV and useful as an intermediate for alpha-(4- isopbutylphenyl)propionic acid (a medicine having high anti-inflammatory effects) from, e.g., a dehydrogenation mixture of p-isobutylethylbenzene without requiring purification of the p-isobutylstyrene to a high purity.

摘要： PURPOSE:To readily obtain the above substance at a low cost by reacting 4- ethyltoluene with propylene, bringing the resultant 4-isobutylethylbenzene into contact with a metal oxide debydrogenation catalyst and reacting the obtained 4-isobutylstyrene with CO and H2. CONSTITUTION:4-Ethyltoluene is reacted with propylene in the presence of an alkali metal (preferably Na or K) in an amount of >=5mg atom based on 1g mol of the former at 150-250 deg.C under >=15kg/cm pressure to provide a fraction, containing 4-isobutylethylbenzene and having 190-220 deg.C boiling point. The resultant fraction is then brought into contact with a dehydrogenation catalyst selected from chromium oxide, iron oxide and copper oxide at 450-650 deg.C in the presence of an inert gas to afford a fraction containing 4-isobutylstyrene. The resultant fraction is subsequently reacted with CO and H2 or CO and water or a lower alcohol in the presence of a carbonylation catalyst to provide the above substance useful as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent from the inexpensive raw materials.

CONSTITUTION:An unsaturated carboxylic acid is reacted with carbon monoxide, hydrogen and water in the presence of a cobalt catalyst which contains preferably a cobalt carbonyl compound as a cobalt component and further preferably an organic phosphors compound containing one or more trivalent phosphorus atoms in the molecule or a pyridine as a promoter preferably at 50-250 deg.C under 10-300kg/cm G for 0.1-50 hours to give a dicarboxylic acid and a formylcarboxylic acid useful as raw materials for various kinds of chemical products from the above-mentioned raw materials by one-stage reaction in high yield and simultaneously. The ratio of the dicarboxylic acid and the formylcarboxylic acid formed can be controlled by changing feed ratio of hydrogen and water of the raw materials.

摘要： PURPOSE:To enable advantageous production of carboxylic acid by adding a halogenated hydrocarbon to a reaction mixture of carboxylation of an olefin with water and carbon monoxide in the presence of a sulfuric acid-containing catalyst and using again the separated catalyst as well as the aqueous phase collected after addition of a specific amount of water to the catalyst phase. CONSTITUTION:i) An olefin is allowed to come into contact with carbon monoxide and water in the presence of a catalyst containing sulfuric acid. ii) the reaction mixture is treated with a halogenated hydrocarbon to transfer at least a part of the reaction product into the hydrocarbon phase, resulting in separation into the catalyst phase and the hydrocarbon phase. iii) The latter phase is treated with water in an amount less than the volume which has been consumed in the process ii) to transfer at least the sulfuric acid in the hydrocarbon phase into the aqueous phase, then the hydrocarbon phase is separated from the aqueous phase and carboxylic acid is obtained from the hydrocarbon phase. iv) Further, the catalyst phase separated in process ii) is diluted with the aqueous phase in process iii) and reused to produce carboxylic acid advantageously.
