摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output a light pulse having a short width. SOLUTION: This circuit is provided with a light source 26 which outputs an optical signal, an oscillator 5 that outputs an electric clock signal, a 1st optical modulator 3a which performs intensity modulation of the optical signal with an electric clock signal, a phase shifter 4 that shifts the phase of an electric clock signal, a 2nd optical modulator 3b which performs intensity modulation of an optical signal from the 1st optical modulator with the electric clock signal that undergoes phase shifting, an optical demultiplexer 2 which branches an output of the modulator 3b, a photodetector 8 which converts a demultiplexed optical signal into an electric signal, a dither signal generator circuit 11 that outputs a dither signal, a phase comparator 12 that performs synchronous detection of an output of the photodetector and the dither signal, and a phase shifter control circuit 9 which controls a phase shift amount of the phase shifter. The phase shifter control circuit receives a dither signal and an output of the phase comparator as input signals and controls the phase shifter so as to maximize the output of the photodetector.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an optical modulation device capable of suppressing deterioration of transmission signal in quality caused by drift of a working point of a modulation device, by adding dither signal on a bias voltage of an optical modulation device. SOLUTION: This optical modulation device comprises a source of light 1, an optical modulator 3, a modulator driving circuit 24, a dither signal generator 12, a peak detector 15 for detecting a low frequency dither signal from output signal, a synchronous detection circuit 7 for detecting synchronization of the dither signal generated from the low frequency and dither signal generator detected in the peak detector 15, and a bias circuit 10 for controlling a bias applied to the optical modulator 3 according to the result of the synchronization detection by the synchronous detection circuit 7. And, adding a low frequency signal on the bias makes it easily possible to control the operation of the modulator even in modulating a high frequency signal.

SOLUTION: This optical receiver is composed of an optical gate 3 which is disposed on a signal input end 1 side, a high dispersion medium 4 which is connected to the output side of this optical gate 3, a receiver 7 which reproduces data and clock from a photodetector 6 connected to the high dispersion medium 4 output side and a phase shifter 10 which controls the gate time of the optical gate from the clock of this receiver 7. A peak detecting means for detecting the peak value of the clock of the output of the receiver 7 is added to the optical receiver by using a waveguide grating filter as the high dispersion medium 4 and the time of the optical gate 3 is so controlled as to maximize the peak value of the clock.

The two interferometers are combined opposite to each other in the 2nd optical path. A reflected wavelength matches that of a reception light in the Bragg grating and the received light enters the 1st interferometer from an input terminal.

摘要： PURPOSE:To suppress the deterioration in the characteristic and in the gain even with a wide input signal range by providing a compensation light source, injecting a compensation light in a reverse direction to that of a signal light, and detecting a spontaneous emission level so as to control the compensation light. CONSTITUTION:An input signal from an input terminal 1 is amplified by a rare-earth group added fiber 3 via an isolator 7a and a coupler 4a. The fiber 3 produces a spontaneous emission light propagated in the same direction as and the reverse direction to the signal propagation direction. The spontaneous emission light propagated in the reverse direction to the signal propagation direction is detected by a photodetector 10 via the coupler 4a and an optical filter 9. A compensation light source drive circuit 12a controls a compensation light source 11 so that the detected spontaneous emission light intensity is constant thereby making the total intensity of an input signal light and the compensation light source output light constant independently of the input signal. When the total intensity is constant, the gain and noise characteristic of an optical amplifier is constant to make the gain stable. Furthermore, the compensation light source output light is blocked by the isolator 7a, then leakage at the outside of the optical amplifier affecting no other equipments.

摘要： PURPOSE:To provide the constant output-current amplitude even if the voltage of a power supply is fluctuated in a driver circuit using a GaAs MESFET. CONSTITUTION:In a GaAs MESFET driver circuit, a potential detecting circuit 13 is provided on the drain side of an output FET 4, and the average value of the amplitudes of the output currents is obtained. This value and the output of a reference current source 12 are compared and amplified in a differential amplifier 14. The output is inputted into a voltage control current source 15. The voltage control current source 15 has an output current 11, which is proportional to the input voltage. The current is used as a reference current for a current-mirror current source, and the current is controlled. Thus, the constant I2, i.e., the output current amplitude, is obtained in this constitution. Thus, the reference current for the current-mirror current source is controlled by only adding the simple DC circuit so that the stable output current amplitude is obtained even when the voltage of a power supply is fluctuated. The constant output-current amplitude is obtained all the time.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a zero dispersion wavelength measuring device and method which can accurately measure the zero dispersion wavelength of an optical waveguide path such as an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The polarization surface of light output from a reference light source 1 and a wavelength variable light source 2 is aligned by a polarization controller 3, is multiplexed by an optical multiplexer 4, and then is input to an optical fiber 5 to be measured. Four light wave mixing light power generated by the optical fiber 5 to be measured is measured by a light spectrum analyzer 6. The four light wave mixing light power reaches it maximum when the oscillation wavelength of the wavelength variable light source 2 matches the zero dispersion wavelength of the optical fiber 5 to be measured. Therefore, by sweeping the oscillation wavelength of the wavelength variable light source 2 and then measuring the oscillation wavelength of the wavelength variable light source 2 where the four light wave mixing light power indicates the maximum, the zero dispersion wavelength of the optical waveguide such as the optical fiber can be measured accurately.
