    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a recovery rate of rhodium by treating a solution containing rhodium with an oxidizer in the presence of an acidic solvent containing a carboxylic acid and a phosphonate represented by a specific formula and separating an acidic solvent phase from a nonpolar organic solvent phase by phase separation to recover the rhodium in the polar solvent phase. SOLUTION: In case of separating and recovering rhodium used as a catalyst from a solution containing phosphite and rhodium, particularly the catalyst solution used in the oxo reaction, the catalyst solution is treated with the oxidizer in the presence of the phosphonate represented by the formula HP (O)(OX1)(OX2) and the acidic solvent and the polar solvent phase is separated from the nonpolar organic solvent phase by phase separation to recover the rhodium in the polar solvent phase. In the formula, X1 and X2 are each a monovalent organic group independently or can be bonded to each other to form a ring together with P as a member. The volume ratio of the solution containing phosphite and rhodium to the polar solvent is adjusted to 0.1-10.
